Journaling: Jalen loved his Saturday mornings spent down at the bowling center for PeeWee bowling league.  One of his favorite things to do was to lean into the fan and let his hair blow up.

Journaling:  We had to take Jordan in to the emergency room with a high fever and a suspected ear infection.  We sat for a long time waiting to be seen.  It’s always an adventure waiting in the Emergency Room at Tripler.

HomePort Pearl Harbor

Journaling:  We wanted to move back to Pearl Harbor so we called for orders but the detailer said there was nothing available.  We were so excited to get a call from my mom to tell us about a story in the local newspaper.  A brand new ship was being built an ddue to be homeported in Pearl Harbor.  We called the detailer and got assigned to the USS Chafee.  Troy spent 6 months in San Diego, CA with the pre-com unit and then in February 2003, Jalen, Troy and I moved to Bath, ME to finish up the Pre-Com work.  In the summer of 2003, Jalen and I moved home to Hawaii and in December of 2003 we were so excited to welcome the USS Chafee to its new homeport in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Cars Fanatics

Journaling:  Today we got to meet Lighting McQueen and TowMater from the movie Cars.  It was so exciting. The cars were super cute.  We planned to be in the right spot and the right time today and were able to casually say to the boys, Oh look, who is that?!  The boys have watched the movie so many times.  Jalen has been walking around with a little hook on a string saying he was the world’s best backwards walker and Jordan has been screaming over the Ghost Light.  August 2007

mystery plant:

Journaling:  Jordan’s class planted some seeds at school the other day.  His teacher did not tell us what kind of plant it is.  Our only instructions were to remind our preschoolers that it is their kuleana *responsibility* to take card of this plant.  We have to take it back to school in a few weeks.  We are enjoying watching it grow!

I love these bracket masks by Vinnie Pearce! You can use them for digital clipping masks, or import them into the silhouette software like I did and cut the shapes. just a little layout to document how I am ALWAYS early to pick up the boys from school. Journaling:  I am always nervous about being late for pickups at school, so I always plan to arrive atleast 15 minutes before dismissal.  I figure I can spend those last few minutes reading on my kindle app for the iTouch.  It makes me happy to know that YOU know, I will be there at the end of your day.

I was both inspired by a tone on tone white card or layout I saw a month or more ago in the gallery @twopeas (http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=1595385)and by Laina’s super cute die cut frame shapes. I cut one set of labels in the same white textured cardstock that I made the mini book out of. I lOVE how it came out. I printed a few family shots in b/w and added the title in white vinyl thickers. sewed up with some divine twine. will be sending this overseas to Troy :) Favorite Frames 2 by Laina Lamb

Personal notes.  This Sunday was Jalen’s first time to be an acolyte in our Church Service.  He has been waiting for a while to be old enough to volunteer and this Sunday was finally it.  We woke up early and got dressed, made breakfast, and finished up our routine.  We were so early, the boys sat down to play and I sat down at the computer to work on some digi stuff.  before you know it, it was 9 am, perfect time to leave and make it with time to spare. I was happy, especially after the last two weeks of running in almost late!  so the boys got in the car and I scrambled to grab my camera, put it into a big bag, although not my usual camera bag. Grabbed a snack for Jordan and a bottle of water *that was prepacked, just had to get it in the bag. then transferring my wallet, Touch and looking for my cell phone. oh and lip gloss. and grabbing my coffee cup. where is that dang cell phone?  Jalen walks back into the house, Mom, are you looking for your cell phone? Jordan has it. ugh! i glance at the clock and it is now 9:20. <sarcasm> GREAT!</sarcasm> there went our lead time. we’re supposed to be at the church already!  so I get in the car, and we jet to the church. Jalen runs in and gets the robes on and Jordan and I are getting into our regular seats… and here they come.  Now let me say, in my mind, the past acolytes have been kids.  I’m thinking Jalen’s going to be looking like a big boy.  I hope he’s not nervous… and they walk in.  The two in the front are a brother and sister and they are highschoolers carrying the candle things… and Jalen carrying the bible, just looks tiny. like a little kid. and the Big BOOK, put up a little struggle with Jalen, but thankfully he did NOT lose his grip… and he takes his seat in the front row and now Jordan notices, hey Mom, why is Jalen helping out up there!  :)  I’m happy to further report that Jordan went to Sunday school with no incident and Jalen performed his other acolyte duties without any troubles.   He gets to do it again one time next month, and I couldn’t be prouder!

I am going to document my week along with every other scrapbooker on the planet… hee hee!  I really enjoyed the last time with Ali, so I figured why not?

Journaling: We bought some play-doh brand moon sand from the navy exchange the other day.  But when we opened it up, it seemed kind of gross and oily looking and it looked like it might make a mess.  So we opted for play-doh instead and used the mold on the lid of the sand container to make castle shapes.  Jordan took a little piece of left over play-doh and rolled it into a little ball and said, “this is my little friend.  He is going to watch me play.”

So, I have been wanting to document Jordan’s “friends” for a while… and yesterday my new lens came in, so I quickly snapped these pictures and scrapped them.

It takes a village: to get Jordan to sleep.  He co-slept with us as a baby, and for a little while he co-slept with Jalen, but now he goes to bed, in his own room, in his own bed, all by hims…okay, with all of his friends.

I love Erica’s 8.5×11 template converted to 12×12 for showing off so many beautiful patterned papers courtesy of Tricia Chapman. total swoon fest over all those papers!

Journaling: yesterday we welcomed this super sweet little camera to our family.  We all took pictures of each other and watched together as each one magically developed.

and in other good news, I got an email from the lens repair company and they say my 50mm is repaired and on it’s way back to me, yay! I’ve missed you my sweet little lens!  I took all these shots with my 105mm macro, so I’m standing about 6 feet away from these projects to photograph! crazy, isn’t it!  and my other sweet new lens is on it’s way too, I can hardly wait!

The pen tablet class that I am taking over at JessicaSprague.com is in it’s final week.  I’m sad to see it coming to an end, especially since with all the sickness and busy-ness going on around here, I only finished the first week.  I am hoping to catch up on my lessons soon and hoping to figure out why my wacom intuos 3 does not play well with CS4 on my laptop.  works well with the desktop, but not the laptop. Anyway, Jessica is encouraging us to participate in the pentablet contest over at wacom, so I’m hoping to get in on that action.

Tuesday is new Digi Kit Release day over at Two Peas in a Bucket and there is a new designer named Vinnie Pearce and she’s brought a SLEW of new digi goodies to the store.  Can I just say, I seriously picked up a bunch of new kits today. Jen Martakis, Wilna Furstenburg, Tricia Chapman, Vinnie Pearce. now that it’s all downloaded, unzipped, backed up on all the drives and I’ve blogged these cards I can get my digiscrap on.

on a personal note, we got news last week that Troy’s deployment is being extended a month, boo!  The boys are crushed.  The good news, the ship was in port so we got a chance to skype with Troy.  It is such a blessing to see his handsome face and hear him laugh (and make him laugh).  We read books, we showed off new items/school work. so many kinds of awesome.  Troy’s birthday is coming up in a few days and I encouraged him to pick up a birthday present for himself at the exchange.  I had wanted to get him something good, but didn’t really want to trust it to the mail, no offense USPS, you know I love you- see the title of this post? anyway, he got an iTouch so he can now watch all the movies/listen to music/read books via Kindle app, so we’re stoked about that too.

journaling: we had so much fun blowing bubbles on the driveway today.  You really had me giggling though, because you couldn’t really figure out why you were having such a hard time with the bubbles.  You were blowing with a ffffff sound and I thought you were so cute!

Journaling: Normally, I would consider 9 years old a little young for a cellphone.  But this year, Jalen and Jordan started at different schools running on different schedules.  With only one parent driving in high traffic areas, I wanted to be sure that I could call Jalen on a cellphone if I was running late or just needed to give him a call.  His 9th birthday was coming up right before the start of school so we jumped in and picked up a cute phone.  I tried to teach him how to text, but the phone did not have a keyboard and it was a lot of work.  I took it back and exchanged it for a phone with a camera and a keyboard so he could text and email pictures easily. It turned out that phones were not allowed at his new school, but I decided to let him keep the phone anyway. he is allowed to text and send pictures to dad while he is deployed.  It has been a great tool to help keep Troy in our daily routine.

journaling: We stopped off at the antique mall in town. It was the first time I had been in there, and I was immediately sucked in. I fell in love with this 10ft long church pew (for $250). I really wanted it, but 1. how would i get it back to the house, 2. where could I put it? 3. how would I pay for it. Obviously, it stayed there. but look at it in all it’s glory. ha. i also drooled over the tobacco desk, the wooden/glass umbrella store case, the curio cabinet, the old sewing machine with wooden case. amd the typewriter, oh the typewriter. We finally walked out of the antique store with two stamps and a wooden Coke case (2+ hours later) It was so nice walking around with Troy.

Jordan played on his DS while I continued to work on the Windows 7 install….

I finished the apron!  I love how it turned out, so I’m making more.

Today I had my regular Tuesday with FabuLisa.  We hit the post office, Fisher Hawaii (no date stamps, can you believe it?!) and then had lunch at Island Burgers (we shared a burger and a cobb salad- so yum!)  on our way back to the car I spied these Guava Macaroons. super yum.

I downloaded a few vectors for craft cutters from Peppermint Creative.  When I saw this particular image, I thought it could be a cute teacher gift filled with cookies or kisses or some other sweet treat.  I cut the design out of silver vinyl and put it on a jar I got for a few bucks. add a ribbon and voila, you’re all set:

Today’s picture of the day: Happy Birthday Jordan!

My picture of the Day for yesterday is my (step)brother Kam and my sister in law Melissa.

Today was a day for tying up loose ends.  Getting safety inspections for truck and motorcycle, mowing our little patch of lawn in the back… I think we are about as ready as we can be.
