We’ve all been battling a little bug around here. With the vog on overdrive last week and possibly a mix of something else, the boys and I have all been a little sniffly and sneezy lately. Yesterday we stayed in for Mother’s Day. No church for us. Thankfully though, our church offers a podcast version of the sermon, so I can still listen via iTunes :) Jordan made me a super cute little vase and flowers in school. One day last week he came home with blue hands and when I asked him what he was working on, he said, I was making blue flowers for you, but the blue went all over my hands. * awww, happy sigh *

Jalen made me a treasure box in school. They painted and added gemstones to the top. He filled it with gold coins (they are studying Treasure Island in school) and a kit kat (his favorite candy) and a bag of arare (one of my favorite snacks). *aww, happy sigh, again*

I got a card in the mail last week or the week before from Troy. :) A big surprise from my pal FabuLisa and her daughter Savannah. They stopped by in the afternoon to bring me a gorgeous flowering plant (kalanchoes, so pretty!). and a bag of bite sized cookies too! :)

I’ve been continuing my research on the homeschool front. I picked up a few kindle books on how to choose your curriculum and styles of homeschooling and I’m pretty excited. I hear that Hawaii is a homeschool friendly state. I am going to file a form with the local school to let them know we’re homeschooling. We have to show our accomplishments and Jalen has to participate in testing, either with the local school (for free) or by private tester (at our cost). Not decided which way we’ll go on that yet. There are local homeschool groups here that I am looking forward to meeting with and a conference next month. I am very excited about our prospects. Although taking on their schooling is a great responsibility, really, so is parenting.

We are winding down in our current schools, Jordan has 2 more weeks and Jalen has 3 more weeks. Because I am a SAHM, I get to go to most field trips and class activities. I am at the school with my camera quite a bit and like to share my pictures with other parents. So for the end of the year, I am compiling pictures on DVDs and giving them out to fellow parents. I’ve created a tutorial on how to create personalized cd envelopes over at DHD: tutorial. I created this cd envelope template. It *just* fits on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. I have a .jpg and a .gsd if you’d like it: cdenvelope

This past week I got to work with a few cute items from two peas. Click on the titles for full credits:

Glass Bottomed Boat

journaling: Jordan’s Preschool class took a field trip to the Glass Bottomed Boat in Kaneohe Bay. It was a beautiful day, bright sun and calm seas. The guide told us about different types of coral and fish that we might see. We looked through the Plexiglas windows in the bottom of the boat. We also had the opportunity to feed the fish some bread crumbs. We also saw a few sea turtles. It was a beautiful trip. No one got sick, no one got hurt and no one fell overboard. Success! April 2010

speedy

journaling: Jordan learned how to ride his tricycle like a pro! He loves to zoom down the sidewalk! (this is a 2 year old picture)

I was excited to see my fish face layout in the Club Creating Keepsakes Blog last week too! :)

Thanks for stopping by! It’s not too late to get your votes in… We’ll find out later this week if we won!

Jalen and I got home from the Big Island on Friday night and the past few days have gone by way to quickly. I finally got a chance today to get some digi scrap time and hybrid time in. The first layout is called Kahua Ranch.

i love these frames by Pamela. so classy, so timeless. Background paper is a blend of wilna’s and Jen’s, flower by vinnie, slightly recolored. itty bitty letters by erica

journaling: we arrived by bus to Kahua Ranch in Kohala on the Big Island. We took a small walking tour of the ranch and saw some orphaned animals, the sheep shearing area and the ranch chapel. The kids rolled in the grass, touched animals and pulled weeds. We enjoyed our lunch with this beautiful view. It was a great visit to such an amazing place.

next layout is called you Rock!

love these digital stamps by Erica (you rock) and these paper frames by Jen. Papers and pearls by Hero Arts and Distress Brushes by vinnie.

journaling: We were walking on the beach before dinner and saw a lot of cool looking shells. You picked one up and said, “Look, it’s a Hawaiian Shell Money! Can I keep it?” How could I refuse? I said, “Sure, put it in your pocket.” We went on for about thirty minutes gathering shells. When we got back to the car, we put them in a container and you were so excited. When we got home you declared, “If we got to the store, I’m keeping my Hawaiian Shell Money.” I think you got the idea from a Dr. Seuss Book we’ve been reading called One Cent, Two Cent, Old Cent, New Cent: All About Money. It tells how seashells were used to barter and trade, a handful of shells and you had it made!

I created this card by using Laina Lamb’s Digital Die cut files with my silhouette. I cut some making memories paper and October afternoon paper. Glimmer misted with Iridescent Gold, pop dots and a button and some thickers letters and stitching. a card to make the recipient smile :)

it’s your birthday. A hybrid card using Vinnie’s super cute tea party rubons. that bird is so so cute! I also used her my sister my friend paper (pink) in the background. Nestabilities dies, stampin up stamps, pop dots and some machine stitching to finish it up.

I love Vinnies Camera overlay/stamp and it went so well with this paper from her Bucket Full of Sunshine kit. I created in PS, printed, trimmed, sewed onto some cardstock, added some japanese masking tape, easy peasy!

Since the time change this weekend, I’ll be attempting to meet for chat with my fellow 2Peas Digi CT ladies at 5am Hawaii Standard Time. I can’t wait to see what’s new at two peas in the morning.

one last little note. I got such a pleasant surprise the other day. I signed up for Google alerts a while ago. I get an email every day with links to posts that contain Joscie, Joscelyne Cutchens or my blog address http://www.cutchens.com. Usually I get links to my own posts, but sometimes I get a pleasant surprise like this: http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/20…recycling.html . A big thank you shout out to my pal Brookelynn.

Thanks for stopping by! come back again next time when you might see some blog hop card making, some glimmery goodies, some Big Island Photos, and/or some Birthday Goodies.

Love Love and Blog You Later!

Miss Mint has release her newest digital goodness! She has a planet earth paper pack and elements. She has textured cardstock, Birthday Bingo Cards and a new freebie! Here are a few layouts/projects that I’ve made this past week:

We are big drinkers

journaling: of diet coke and coffee! In our beautiful state of Hawaii, we have a bottle deposit. That means with every can or bottle of soda there is a
5 cent charge at the store when you purchase (sometimes there is a 6 cent charge) and there is only a 5 cent refund when you bring it back. The bottles must be clean, empty and still have the label attached and you have to take it to a redemption center. When the law first started up, I stopped buying 12 packs of diet coke and switched to two liter bottles. It just seemed silly to pay for all those bottle deposits because at the time 2 liters were exempt from the deposit… so we simply made the switch to two liter bottles. We would still recycle the 2 liter bottles and any of the few other bottles or cans that we had. The 2 liter bottles are now a part of the deposit system and Saturday was the day we finally packed all those plastic bags into the van and down to the recycling truck. The truck has “reverse vending” machines where you put a bottle or can in and it gives you a ticket worth money. Our redemption center gives tickets for the Navy Exchange.

blue bin recycling

journaling: the city dropped off our blue recycling bins today. We can now recycle #1 + #2 plastics, cardboard, and aluminum cans curbside. I am so thrilled to do our part to help reduce waste!

I participated in my first online crop over at twopeasinabucket on Friday night. okay, so it was friday night in the central timezone, but afternoon for me over here in paradise. I missed the beginning because I was picking Jalen up from school. BUT, when I did get online, it was a fun, quick paced chat and scrap with some nice peas.

For Jen Martakis’ challenge I scrapped about love. Have you heard that song by Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait? I swear, the first time I heard it, it was like it was written for my hubbs and me.

and how cute is that valentine’s cake plate I got at target?! I saw a cute red scalloped one at Christmas time but didn’t pick it up the first time I saw it, and of course, when I went back, there were no more left. So last week when I spied this one at Target, I scooped it up quickly!

<from the Tattered Angels Educator Blog>

Glimmer Glaze will offer the same beautiful color and AMAZING glimmer as Glimmer Mist, but will now offer you the versatility to use on any surface. This product will be a translucent to a semi-opaque depending on how much of an application is used. Glimmer Glaze will also be a matte finished product if used in a fine application, yet as you build up the product the application will build up to a semi gloss or high gloss finish. This gives you an amazingly versatile product that can be used on any surface, offer any finish (matte, eggshell, semi-gloss or high gloss) as well as a variety of depth of color depending on how much you apply. Glimmer Glaze will come equipped with a paint brush insert for easy application. The container will also have a nice sized opening making it easy to pour out for large project.

Glimmer Glam will offer a similar base of Glimmer Glaze but with a slight more of a transparent color base, still have an AMAZINGLY GLIMMERY base, yet now we are adding custom glitters to add to the depth of the glimmery crafting experience! Using a ridiculous variety of glitters, we are not only customizing the glimmer in the product, we are now customizing the glitters too! This will give crafters a multi-faceted and unique art medium to work with. Glimmer Glam will come equipped with a pom like dauber for application. The container as well has a wide enough opening to allow crafters to use the product in larger amounts if needed.

Both products are easily manipulated with Glimmer Mist, so they blend very nicely if needed. These products were created to act as a companion to Glimmer Mist to give additional depth to crafters Glimmer Misting experience.

Thanks for stopping by, Love Love and Blog you again real soon,

We got word earlier this morning that the ship might delay the departure by a few days due to rough weather in the forecast. We waited anxiously today, hoping that we might eek out another day or so, but then the word came back this afternoon that tomorrow is the day. Troy will have to be at the ship at 6am. We have not discussed whether we’ll be waiting on the ship to leave or not. Jalen doesn’t go back to school until next Monday and I’ve already told Jordan’s teachers that he’ll be out tomorrow. I hope it goes well. Tonight we’ll be celebrating Jordan’s and Troy’s birthdays, valentines and our (14th) anniversary! We picked up one of our favorite cakes from Deelite bakery this afternoon. It’s guava chiffon, yummm! :)

Today’s picture of the day: Happy Birthday Jordan!

Today was a day for tying up loose ends. Getting safety inspections for truck and motorcycle, mowing our little patch of lawn in the back… I think we are about as ready as we can be.

In scrappy news, Tattered Angels is releasing a few new products that I am super super excited about! Liz posted the first sneak peek on the Tattered Angels educator blog today. She listed all the new educators and there is a great giveaway, so check it out! My first tattered angels project went live on the blog today too! Here’s a peek:
