every time we have a lost tooth around here, I package it in a little plastic bag and cardstock label.  I created a whole stack so they can all be the same and I don’t have to worry about running out of a certain kind of cardstock and having a mismatched tooth pack. Plus, then the tooth fairy would have a whole stack of exactly the same sized packets, you know, if she was the type to keep this kind of thing.

Scientist Jordan or Look Mom Chronicles, vol 2

I loved all the little bits and papers in the sincerely kit. I had a hard time deciding what to use, so full! So Jordan came to me and said, Mom, I want to wear my scientist shirt… and then we popped the lenses out of the 3d glasses and voila, my little scientist. He wore this all day long even out of the house. completely serious. love that kid!

Lava

journaling:  it was a pretty hot day out on the lava field and truthfully, if i had known it was a hike across the lava field and not a paved walkway, I probably would not have brought the boys on this hike.  However, it was beautiful and I am glad we did it.  I also loved seeing my happy green cons on the lava.  aug 2010

Journaling:  Jordan’s class planted some seeds at school the other day.  His teacher did not tell us what kind of plant it is.  Our only instructions were to remind our preschoolers that it is their kuleana *responsibility* to take card of this plant.  We have to take it back to school in a few weeks.  We are enjoying watching it grow!

I love these bracket masks by Vinnie Pearce! You can use them for digital clipping masks, or import them into the silhouette software like I did and cut the shapes. just a little layout to document how I am ALWAYS early to pick up the boys from school. Journaling:  I am always nervous about being late for pickups at school, so I always plan to arrive atleast 15 minutes before dismissal.  I figure I can spend those last few minutes reading on my kindle app for the iTouch.  It makes me happy to know that YOU know, I will be there at the end of your day.

I was both inspired by a tone on tone white card or layout I saw a month or more ago in the gallery @twopeas (http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=1595385)and by Laina’s super cute die cut frame shapes. I cut one set of labels in the same white textured cardstock that I made the mini book out of. I lOVE how it came out. I printed a few family shots in b/w and added the title in white vinyl thickers. sewed up with some divine twine. will be sending this overseas to Troy :) Favorite Frames 2 by Laina Lamb

Personal notes.  This Sunday was Jalen’s first time to be an acolyte in our Church Service.  He has been waiting for a while to be old enough to volunteer and this Sunday was finally it.  We woke up early and got dressed, made breakfast, and finished up our routine.  We were so early, the boys sat down to play and I sat down at the computer to work on some digi stuff.  before you know it, it was 9 am, perfect time to leave and make it with time to spare. I was happy, especially after the last two weeks of running in almost late!  so the boys got in the car and I scrambled to grab my camera, put it into a big bag, although not my usual camera bag. Grabbed a snack for Jordan and a bottle of water *that was prepacked, just had to get it in the bag. then transferring my wallet, Touch and looking for my cell phone. oh and lip gloss. and grabbing my coffee cup. where is that dang cell phone?  Jalen walks back into the house, Mom, are you looking for your cell phone? Jordan has it. ugh! i glance at the clock and it is now 9:20. <sarcasm> GREAT!</sarcasm> there went our lead time. we’re supposed to be at the church already!  so I get in the car, and we jet to the church. Jalen runs in and gets the robes on and Jordan and I are getting into our regular seats… and here they come.  Now let me say, in my mind, the past acolytes have been kids.  I’m thinking Jalen’s going to be looking like a big boy.  I hope he’s not nervous… and they walk in.  The two in the front are a brother and sister and they are highschoolers carrying the candle things… and Jalen carrying the bible, just looks tiny. like a little kid. and the Big BOOK, put up a little struggle with Jalen, but thankfully he did NOT lose his grip… and he takes his seat in the front row and now Jordan notices, hey Mom, why is Jalen helping out up there!  :)  I’m happy to further report that Jordan went to Sunday school with no incident and Jalen performed his other acolyte duties without any troubles.   He gets to do it again one time next month, and I couldn’t be prouder!

I am going to document my week along with every other scrapbooker on the planet… hee hee!  I really enjoyed the last time with Ali, so I figured why not?

I so love Jen Martakis’ April kit, especially the scratchy looking papers in yellow and gray. I used Laina’s Borderlines 5 to cut the bracket edge on Jen’s papers in my silhouette. Hybrids are so easy in 8.5×11, I printed my journaling right on my background paper.  The alphas are thickers, the corduroy brad is from stampin’ up!  and those little legos are stuck on with mini glue dots ;)

and in other exciting news, today my layout was featured over at the clubcreatingkeepsakes.com blog in the gallery :)

I picked up a few cute digital cutter files from Laina Lamb again this week, so I’ll be working with those…

more exciting news: I’ve been invited to join the designhousedigital.com Hybrid Creative team.  I’ll be making a few hybrid projects a month and posting them over there and here.  I’m super excited to be working with those lovely creative peeps over there!  I’ll let you know when my first project(s) are up!

and a few last bits on the personal front.  I have been wanting to get my hair cut for quite a while now.  It’s been long and quite a hassle. I swear it would take me atleast 20 minutes to wash, condition and rinse all that hair. Not to mention all the hair I have to vacuum up around here.  I was also inspired by Megan to just get it done and donate it to Locks of Love.  You’ve probably heard of the organization, they accept donations of hair to make hair pieces for children who have lost their hair whether through alopecia or cancer or whatever situation.  I took the boys to the Navy Exchange to get their hair cut today and I thought I’d stop by and make an appointment to get my hair cut tomorrow while they are at school.  When I walked into the salon, they had an appointment, so i let the boys watch Veggie Tales Jonah on the touch while I got my hair cut.  Who knew I could take them with me?! Atleast now I know I’ll be able to get my hair cut during the summer (no school usually means no appointments for me).  So the girl that cut my hair was super super sweet and she measured the hair to make sure it was long enough… and it was. She cut off 12″ and then proceeded to give me a new look.

Jalen and I got home from the Big Island on Friday night and the past few days have gone by way to quickly.  I finally got a chance today to get some digi scrap time and hybrid time in.  The first layout is called Kahua Ranch.

journaling: we arrived by bus to Kahua Ranch in Kohala on the Big Island. We took a small walking tour of the ranch and saw some orphaned animals, the sheep shearing area and the ranch chapel. The kids rolled in the grass, touched animals and pulled weeds. We enjoyed our lunch with this beautiful view. It was a great visit to such an amazing place.

journaling: We were walking on the beach before dinner and saw a lot of cool looking shells. You picked one up and said, “Look, it’s a Hawaiian Shell Money! Can I keep it?” How could I refuse? I said, “Sure, put it in your pocket.” We went on for about thirty minutes gathering shells. When we got back to the car, we put them in a container and you were so excited. When we got home you declared, “If we got to the store, I’m keeping my Hawaiian Shell Money.” I think you got the idea from a Dr. Seuss Book we’ve been reading called One Cent, Two Cent, Old Cent, New Cent: All About Money. It tells how seashells were used to barter and trade, a handful of shells and you had it made!

I created this card by using Laina Lamb’s Digital Die cut files with my silhouette. I cut some making memories paper and October afternoon paper. Glimmer misted with Iridescent Gold, pop dots and a button and some thickers letters and stitching. a card to make the recipient smile :)

Good Morning! Getting ready for the day, it’s going to be a great one~

and it surely was!  We woke up happy, got breakfast and got Jordan off to school with no problem.  When Jalen and I got home, he started on his book report and I fired up the Google Reader.  What should I see but this post on the Creating Keepsakes Blog. ***:) can you say excited?!  I am so thankful that Megan picked my Home Made Pies layout as her favorite layout of the year!

I also got working on the YUDU for the first time today.  I got ample warning that you must make sure the emulsion sheets are completely dry before continuing on in the process.  I ran it through the dry cycle 3 times and then followed up with my hairdryer.  I am pretty happy with how it turned out.  I printed a few different designs of LOVE and thanks cards.  I love the texture of the ink. love.  Things I didn’t love about the YUDU- the drying time was killing my patience.  The primary colors of ink that I got (UGH- what an ugly red, and I didn’t even try the blue or yellow)  Things I need before my next run: white ink, and maybe silver ink , Neutrals.  I’d also love an aqua colored ink as well- but I don’t like the colors they offer.  I need more transparencies, emulsion, blockout and I’d love another screen.

I printed a lot more than these in various colors.  I also screened cutchens.com on the backs of the cards. I love it!  I can’t wait to make more varieties!  the corduroy buttons/brads and cardstock are from stampin up and the flower is making memories.

now you may be thinking, couldn’t she just do that by printing with her printer? yes, I could. but I loved the texture of the ink. and I can’t wait to plan some tshirt and other fabric prints *i just picked up a bunch of tshirts from target!

Today was an early out day for Jordan at Preschool so I got the boys happy meals from McDonald’s.  I found it quite amusing that both boys can identify the golden arches, read the logo… but Jordan pointed out, “that guy looks weird” and I told him, his name is Ronald McDonald.  and he was like, “who?” and even Jalen didn’t know who Ronald McDonald was either.  Today’s picture of the day came after lunch when Jordan put on this hat, he said, ” I look like Bowser’s minion.” ha ha.

1. FOCUS.  my word of the year.  I toyed with the ideas of unity, stability,strength… but in the end I chose focus for a two reasons.  I have decided to focus only on what is important.  I will focus on God. Family. Health. Gratitude. Happiness. Integrity. Kindness. Generosity. Love. Honesty. Faithfulness.  I will also focus my lens to capture our life throughout the year.
2. P365.  I will take a picture a day for the next year.  Some will be people, some will be things. But each will capture a bit of our life that we can look back on and remember where we were and what we were doing this year.  I will share these on my blog here, and I will order a photo book at the end of the year.

Yesterday we also made our deployment chain.  The theory is one link represents each day that Troy will be gone.  It makes it easier for the boys to conceptualize how long Troy will be gone and help mark the victory of each day as we get closer.  I use Miss Mint’s Birthday Boogie, Spotted Streamer Paper, and Miss Mint’s Commercial Vector’s Basic Label shapes to create the strips:

I stamped the numbers on with my stampin’ up! number stamps and black versafine ink.  I trimmed with the paper trimmer and Troy and I stapled all the links in order.

we layed it out in the hallway, it was sooooo long.

We decided to hang it in the stairwell to keep it out of the way, but still within daily eyesight.
