I got an email from my mother in law that she received the new For the Home idea book by Scrapbook Trends in the mail.  My calendar is featured there, I am so excited!  Be on the look out for that one! :)  I have another layout coming out in a UK Idea book this summer too, I’ll let you know about that one when it comes up.  I also have a new project in the works for DesignHouseDigital soon too! :)  I also got a note that one of my digi layouts is featured on the Kenner Road blog today!

It has been voggy and rainy around Hawaii the past few days.  There has been lots of ponding on the roads and runny noses, itchy eyes, and coughing around the family.  We’re sure thankful that it’s not too bad, I am feeling really bad for all the severe weather in the southeast US.  We took the car into the shop this morning for an oil change, tire rotation, brake check *(I was just sure that the brakes were going bad, but thankfully I was wrong, they are fine).  These are the kinds of things Troy usually does for me, and I was just glad to get it done.  We also stopped off at the Library today and while Jalen checked in to a few resource books in the Library, Jordan and I scanned the kids books and checked out three cute stories about Miss Smith and her Incredible Storybook.  We have just about decided that I am going to homeschool both boys next year.  I am nervous, but excited at the prospect at the same time.  So if you’re so inclined, please pray for some divine guidance in selecting our curriculum and good choices for our family.

I need to fold up some laundry and head to bed because tomorrow is Tuesday and that means time for new digi kits over at two peas in the morning! :)

Did you have a good Thanksgiving?  I did! I made my usual bunch of pies on the day before… I always make custard pie, chocolate cream pie and pumpkin pie.  But another thing that got me really excited? I got a few notes from my friends amy and kim that my home made pie layout was on the Creating Keepsakes Blog.  I know, I know, it’s silly the little things that get me excited. anyway. ;)

It’s been a busy winter season here in Hawaii, and by winter, I mean rainy.  This morning there was an accident on the freeway at the exit after the one I take to take Jordan to school.  What does that mean? my few mile, usually 30 minute commute was even longer.

when there is traffic waiting to get ON the freeway? not a good sign. (but check out the sun flare lovelyness) not bad for a cell phone pic. (totally stopped/so technically not driving and cell phone pic-ing, right?)

In real life news, yesterday I spent the afternoon with my girlfriend and her cute 3 year old son.  This picture is from the last time we got together in March, right before our vacation.  We’ve had dates for lunch and playtime with the two boys about once a month or so.  Yesterday we enjoyed lunch and the boys played legos and firetrucks.  As the afternoon passed along we came into my scrapbooking room to look at pictures on the computer and her son started complaining about being cold.  (we have central air, ceiling fans etc) I passed him a blanket, he snuggled with his mom and I asked Jordan to turn off the ceiling fan.  a few minutes later, he jerked and gasped and I thought he had seen something that startled him, so i looked to the top of my bookshelf to see if there was something scary up there and she jumps off the chair and says, he’s having a febrile (fever-induced) seizure!  so we carried him to the kitchen counter and stripped off his clothes and cooled him down and called 911.  The ambulance and fire department showed up a few minutes later.  Thankfully the seizure only lasted a few minutes, but it was very scary.  His lips started to turn blue and he was not breathing.  all the while Jordan watched, a little confused as what was happening.  all of this happened at 2:15pm. a few minutes before I usually leave to pick Jalen up from school.  I made a quick call to the school (and how is it that I didn’t have the school on speed dial?) and they said they’d put him in afterschool care.  Once my girlfriend and her son were in the ambulance, I got the carseat out of her car, put it in my van and went to pick up Jalen from school.  We all drove down to the hospital to wait for them to be released.  I mean really, when you ride the ambulance to the hospital, someone has to come and take you back home (or to your car) and if you have a child in a car seat, they need a car seat to bring the seat to the hospital… so many things to think about.  Thankfully and mercifully he is doing okay. He was cleared for meningitis, flu and other ailments.  They suspect some other cold like virus that is causing the fevers.  This was his 3rd febrile seizure and we’re just hoping he’ll outgrow it and not develop epilepsy.  Once Troy called me and found out we were on the way to the hospital, he met us down there and sat with the boys in the er waiting room while I sat with my friend and her son in the back.  Jordan was telling Troy, “he had a seizure, he had a seizure.  He rode in the ambulance!”  My girlfriend took the day off from work today and is on fever reducer medicine watch, alternating Tylenol and Motrin…. and so far he’s doing well today. Please do say a prayer that he feels better soon. thanks!

In other scrappy news, I got an email newsletter from twopeas the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see my photo of the big peach right there in the photo inspiration (chrispea had her puppy’s picture there in the past too!). it’s funny how the little things get me excited?! :)

Today Troy is riding his motorcycle is some military motorcycle safety awareness something or another rally. I’m just praying for his safety and the safety of all the other riders too.  This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. I’ll be playing along with the CardsforHeroes blog hop and I am very honored to be a part of this blog hop. There are over a hundred crafty bloggers sharing cards, stories and inspiration too. join us on Saturday, won’t you? I hear there are some cool prizes too!

Last, I’ve accumulated some really cute, cool supplies that I (surprisingly, okay maybe not) bought more than I needed, so I’m thinking about selling some supplies.  Maybe etsy, I’m not sure yet. I’ll let you know. :)

Aloha friends!  It certainly is a Happy Happy New Year! We are one week in and I am celebrating! I got a facebook chat window up yesterday from my friend Lynn and she said she got her February issue of Creating Keepsakes Magazine and saw Jalen’s smiling face! I was so thrilled! I knew the issues came up earlier than the actual month, but wow, Feb in the first week of January!! I asked her if she could send me a picture because I had not seen the article yet.  She did one better, she scanned the article and emailed it to me.  and I have to tell you, if you didn’t already know, I am a sap.  I felt like my heart could stop and I was so excited and felt like tearing up all at once!   When Troy got home from work, we immediately went out to the Navy Exchange to check out the Magazine Rack–and there they were, a neat stack of Creating Keepsakes :)  We snapped a few shots in the store and brought a copy out to Chili’s where we celebrated my first official paper magazine publication- a day I have anxiously awaited for a while!

In blog news, I am excited to finally be able to do my own database backups and have upgraded to WordPress 2.7! I am thrilled that the flash uploader for the photos is working again, and it just looks pretty all around. YAY! :)  Are you happy with your blog provider? WordPress has a lot to offer, and it’s not as scary and overly technical as I thought it might be.  I have been really happy with my WP blog.

My Google phone is working and I am loving it!  I can tweet, read email, use gps to figure out where I’m going (or where I am).  The camera on the phone is sadly lacking, but then again, that’s why I’m always carrying my canon with me, right?

we went out looking at Christmas lights a few nights ago and I got a few really cool bokeh shots of the lights, inspired by Vee.  Troy looked at the camera and was like, hey that’s really blurry, yep, that was the look I was going for…

this was on Hickam AFB the freedom tower… I’m hoping we’ll get to go downtown to the city lights tomorrow :)

I have a new tutorial up on Miss Mint’s blog… I made a halloween minibook using my new Stampin’ Up! curvy label (top note) sizzix die.  LOVE it!

Flat Joscie had a great time with my friend Stephanie!  read about her visit on Stephanie’s blog…

I was so excited to see that she not only had a great time hanging out with Stephanie and her family, she also got to meet Ali Davis and Cathy Zielske! :)

I made the slide show over at OLW with my He’s a KEEPer layout, woot woot! :)

Possibly the most exciting news lately…. are you ready?  I got an email from Creating Keepsakes! They are going to use a project of mine in the February Issue! I am SO THRILLED! woo hoo!

I got some new digi goodies from Karla Dudley this week! They are super hot. I LOVE ‘em and you can get them on Thursday. You’re going to want it! :)

I also finished my week in the life project! Finally. and I love it!

I used Karla Dudley’s word brushes for the days of the week and dots: Date a Star Kit. number brushes: Sweet Baby Brushes.  I used Making Memories Ella paper (orange dots), Making Memories brads.  Quickutz bottle cap dies to cut the felt shapes, Studio numbers. My trusty sewing Machine and red thread.  mini pompom trim. Red Chalk ink, circle punches in 1″ and 1.25″, foam dots, corner rounder, HP Matte Photo Paper, PSE 6.  Stampin’ Up! cardstock.  Baseball card pages and 8.5×11 pages.  I still need to get a new album to hold it all, so for now it’s on binder rings.
