There were more more more pictures, but I wasn’t sure how many you wanted to see of stanley next to the pineapple field, next to the macadamia nut orchard, next to the next beach etc etc etc. ha!  We certainly enjoyed his visit and were so happy to send a little aloha spirit to Washington!

1. we love you (a father’s day coaster album) this one was published in Digital Artist Magazine, May 2008.

I created the pages in Photoshop Elements with Digital Elements from Miss Mint’s www.peppermintcreative.com and photos of our family.  I printed the pages on Matte Photo Paper, trimmed to size, rounded corners, and used my ATG (adhesive transfer gun), glue stick and brayer to adhere the pages to the coasters.  I used a cropodile to punch holes at regular intervals on the edges of the pages and used a needle, embroidery floss and glass beads to add interest to the edges of the pages.  I also glued old buttons from my husband’s work shirts on the pages using mini glue dots. after completing all the pages I used my bind-it-all and 1″ black coils to bind it all together!

2. Aloha Mini Book- this was made as a thank you for a visit from our extended family in Japan.
I asked our family members to write their names in Japanese and scanned them and used PSE to create and apply their names as custom brushes on the photos.  I also scanned a Japanese newspaper and printed on plain paper to create elements like tabs and scalloped circle accents.  The pictures are different sizes and the journaling is handwritten on strips of kraft cardstock in various sections of the book.  I also used clear plastic for the cover from the office supply store.

3. Top 10 Reasons why it’s better to be on the ship than at home than at home with your family

a mini book for my husband while deployed.  covers are chipboard wrapped with paper from the My Minds Eye slab from costco.  The inside pages are created digitally, printed on matte photo paper and mounted onto brown Stampin’ Up! cardstock.

Kraft Bracket covers from Teresa Collins, masked with Heidi Swapp Masks and painted with acrylic paint.  I love that there are many Teresa Collins papers and mini book covers designed for use in the bind it all.  There is a margin designed in! :) Some of the pages feature sewing, stamping with foam stamps and paint.

5. 3 things at 3  a mini to show off Jordan 3 favorite non traditional toys at age 3.

This is a small book with three kraft cardstock pages and a clear cover.  I love the simplicity, rounded corners and a few scraps of Making Memories Patterned paper.

6.  Zoo Mini book

This project started out as a 7 gypsies accordian album.  I cut apart the chipboard pieces, covered them in Basic Grey Patterned papers and created a mini book to tell about a day at the Honolulu Zoo.

“so lucky we live Hawaii” is an old local phrase that reminds us to be thankful (that we live in paradise).

There are so many things I love about Hawaii.  The beautiful weather.  The friendly people.  The beautiful flowers.  The delicious foods.  The beaches.  The mountains.  The customs.  I am so lucky to call it home.

Additional supplies: Teresa Collins bracket covers, EK success mini alphas, Heidi Swapp Bling, bind it all coil 1″, Stampin’ Up! Kraft Cardstock, EK success Corner rounders, ATG gun, mini glue dots, foam pop dots.

This was the first time I ever used the Heidi Swapp masks, and I must say, I really liked them.  I think one trick to make them look better is to let the design go off the edge.  They are thicker than I thought they’d be and made a super cute design on the plain chipboard covers. I also love the Teresa Collins Bracket shape covers.

Today’s project started with 4 pictures of my son Jordan. He’s 3 years old and he loves these 3 non traditional “toys”. I originally intended to make a layout but the pictures seemed to large for a 12 x 12 but too small for a 2 pager. I instead opted for a mini book.

The book is 4″ tall and 8.5″ wide. I have rounded the corners of the pages and the pictures. The papers and trim are from the passport line. The mini glitter alphas are some of my favorites! :)

I hope you like this little mini project…. I hope you are all enjoying the tutorials! I plan to put up more tutorials soon.
