We’ve been considering getting a blu ray player to go with our living room tv. It wasn’t on a short list or anything like that, but we have been considering it lately . and then on Saturday our DVD player broke (and now the priority is moving up the list). I don’t know what happened, but it’s completely dead now. and the night before that Troy’s laptop died, kind of reminiscent of the Zip Drive Click Death… He tried to replace the hard drive, but that did nothing. So now it’s sitting on the floor, pitifully broken.

We’re heading to Troy’s home town for a quick visit with his family. and of course, I’ll be taking pictures, pictures, pictures. and filling up my little memory sticks. (actually they are compact flash, but you know what I mean) We picked up a new laptop for a great deal and thankfully it was also scratch ticket weekend at the Navy Exchange, so we also got an additional 5% off. Score!

Okay, so I started this post in Hawaii, but with all the excitement that is packing and checking in and finishing up the last day of schoooool…. We’re now checking in from Alabama. Hold on tight and I’ll give you a quick update.

Friday we packed and checked our bags in early, it is so nice to live near the airport! My mom met us for a Chinese food dinner and then took us to the airport around 8:30 that night. Going through security, I got stopped at the scanner. The TSA agent asks, is this your bag? I say, yes. She says, do you have a stapler in here? I am thinking, it’s actually a tim holtz mini attacher… but I say yes. She says, do you mind if I open your bag to get a better look? I say, go ahead. so she pokes around and gets the items they want to scan further. and when she’s convinced we’re okay, she asks me if I would like any help repacking my items? and I’m just thinking, uh no, but you can take your non latex blue gloves off my stuff thanks. but I just say, No thanks, have a nice night. Jalen was laughing, like why do you have a stapler in your bag? I’m all, hello?! I’m a scrapbooker. and I didn’t thing the ATG would stand the trip in my carry-on. heee. I’m sure you understand. I was having anxiety thinking about traveling without my crafty goods.

We made it to our gate with plenty of time to relax and wait for boarding. I did think it was a bit cool out in the wind that night. surely it was like 74 or something. I carefully arranged our seats to be 2+2 this time instead of the usual 3+1. because we all know who was in the 3 and who was in the 1. We let Jordan pick which parent he wanted to sit with, and he chose me. The first leg was Honolulu to Denver, CO, an overnight trip from 11:00pm to (4amHawaiitime) 7am. During that time, Jalen got sick 3 times (luckily not on himself) and Jordan had 1 good one, all over his clothes. Thankfully I am usually pretty well prepared and we had a complete change of clothes on hand. The kind flight crew provided us with a plastic bag and we well all okay for the rest of the flight. When I booked the flight, I thought this would be our first flight through Denver, CO. I was pretty excited to see it and was just convinced there would be snow out the window for the boys to see. I was wrong on both of those points. As we got off the plane, I mentioned how, this airport looked familiar, didn’t it? Troy says, a lot of airports look the same. I say, hmmm I think it looks like Newark, NJ airport, as we board the moving sidewalk (possible one of the greatest inventions ever). and as I continue to look around, I’m thinking, I’m pretty sure we’ve been to this airport before… as we turn the corner and see the McDonalds and the Crocs store upstairs, we have been to this airport before. In 2007 on our way to Disney World we flew through Denver. D’oH! and on the second point? There was so much snow on the mountains (WOW, so beautiful) there was like no snow anywhere else! We enjoyed our 2+hour layover, got some breakfast and sat gateside for our next flight.

Troy fixed his mom’s wireless router and got our phones and iTouch up on the wireless… forget about the actual cell phones because hey, T-mobile, we could use a tower out here. I feel so disconnected without cell service. anyway. every one was up and running. except.my.laptop. evidently Norton and Linksys don’t get along very well. Troy spent probably 4 hours on the phone with tech support over at HP. but now my laptop, avast and my Mother in Law’s wireless are all getting along fabulously! :)

here’s a sneak peek of what it looks like around here shot with the camera phone:

I’m hoping to get out and get some pictures of the cotton fields and all the pretty things around here, some crafty shopping at Joanns, HobbyLobby, Michaels, etc. WHeeeeee!

Today I put together a little alabama trip mini book that I’ll be filling during this trip. I hope you’re doing well out there!

Love Love and Bama Blog you later! :)

Last night we headed down to the Honolulu City Hall area to take in the Christmas lights. The first stop was at the Iolani Palace next door. (I can’t believe I forgot my tripod!) It is so beautiful every day, but especially so at Christmas time when the Palace and grounds are strung up with paper lantern lights. I love it so much!

this was just around sunset. then as it got darker, they turn lights on the building:

We walked out the side gate, where they were offering horse carriage rides for $60 for a few blocks. (We did not ride) I caught this shot through the gate of the lights with my super high tech bokeh shaper, heeee.

Every year, Santa and Mrs. Claus are sitting in front of Honolulu Hale (City Hall) and Santa offers up a friendly smile and a shaka.

The tree in front of the building

We walked around inside the building where they have themed trees decorated by different city departments. My two favorites were the Super Mario Tree, which included all our friends: Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Yoshi, Bullet Bill, a piranha plant, mushrooms and Donkey Kong. The other favorite was a made in the eighties tree which had 45s and record cover replicas all over the tree. Some of the ones that made me laugh: George Michael, Samantha Fox, The New Kids on the Block… We made our way to the back hall where every year wreath decorating contest entries are posted. Here were a few of the ones that caught my eye.

We then went outside to the area where the trees were lit up so beautifully and got a few (not so great, but I still love ‘em shots) of the family.

and here are some random hearty shots of the trees. sigh, all those hearts make me happy :)

Sunday was a very busy day, we took a little trip down to China town to buy lei for Troy’s homecoming and a little snack too. Our favorite Lei Store was called sweethearts back in the day and then re-emerged as Po’ohala a few years ago, same family, new name. I always go there to buy lei for our friends who are visiting or those like Troy, who are coming home. The boys were able to choose their own lei to give to dad, Jalen chose a tuberose and orchid lei, Jordan chose a lantern ilima and tuberose lei, and I chose a hala lei for Troy.

While we were down in China town, we took a walk around the block for our very favorite Chinese treat, manapua (aka char siu bao). My very favorite place to go is Char Hung Sut. It’s the kind of place where you walk in and order from one person, another person runs and fills your order and the girl at the register scribbles the math on a stack of scratch paper. it’s just so good.

I know you’re going to find this hard to believe, but I procrastinated a little bit on making the welcome home banner. I toyed with the idea of ordering a sign, Noel even sent me a link, but of course I waited too long. I also entertained the idea of cutting vinyl and making a banner, if I could just stop off at a sign making shop and get a banner to apply my vinyl to… but in the end I decided to cut and sew a banner, on Sunday.

Jalen commented that our coconut tree did not have any coconuts and did we have to wait 3 days? (that’s a facebook my farm joke, btw)

We expected the ship to be pulling in around 830am-ish so we arrived around 8. We had to park a good distance and I wanted to be sure we had enough time. I let Jordan ride the umbrella stroller so i could load our goods on the handles. There was a cool tent and seats set up for us to lounge while we waited for the ship.

I loved the reflection in Jalen’s glasses, you can see me right in the middle.

We watched as the ship pulled up. Troy was not manning the rails, he said he had something to do inside the ship, I didn’t even ask what it was. When the ships pull in from a deployment to Pearl Harbor, they tie a lei to the front of the ship. It’s made out of plastic (i think it’s trashbags).

the boys held their umbrella signs, even though dad wasn’t on the outside of the ship…

Then we waited and waited, and Troy showed up, checked out on leave in his Tshirt and shorts with all his goodies. Jordan got to give the first lei:

Jalen the second (and me last)

The boys went back to school on Tuesday and Troy fell in with our daily routine. I got my new id card that I have been waiting for. I was so excited to see that the camera was mounted up high on the counter, at a flatteringly higher angle than the chair. It’s the little things that help a girl out, ya know?! Of course i can’t show you the id card, but it does look like me, so I’m happy. Today’s errands included a trip to the pumpkin patch…

ha ha, just kidding. you know on the Wednesday before Halloween, the pumpkin patch is closed. and evidently the Navy Commissary is also sold out of pumpkins. So we took a trip to Sam’s Club and picked out 4 non rotten pumpkins. ha ha.

and have I told you, I love this man?

pumping my gas. **swoon** what a man. and do you know what I did on Monday night? I was able to run out and pick up steaks for dinner, by.my.self! and I was able to come home and cook dinner while he bathed the little. **sigh** it is so good to be a family of four again. We are enjoying and being thankful for all our many blessings. I want to thank all of you who prayed for us and him while he was gone, I really really appreciate it! Tomorrow’s excitement? I’m getting a long over due eye exam. and I’m not only buying new glasses, but I’m also getting sunglasses. prescription sunglasses. eeeeeeee! You lucky ladies who wear contacts or have been blessed with good eyesight have no idea. For people like me, sunglasses require so much effort. I am such a lucky girl. I’ll check in with my new eyewear when they come in, I can’t wait! SUNGLASSES! yay!

Thanks for stopping by, Love Love and Blog you later!

I really did intend to blog sometime this week, but wow, I really had a bunch of things going on, and thankfully none had to do with doctor visits. Well kind of… I did go in for TB clearance so I can chaperone field trips with Jordan’s class. You’ll be glad to know, I do not have TB. yay. and no, i wasn’t worried, that was a joke. ha.

Monday, Christopher Columbus Day, Jalen was out of school and it was also the release day of a new book he’s been waiting on, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the last straw. I asked him to stand next to the cut out so I could get a picture. I snapped it, then I asked, Jalen, you’re not even smiling, are you not excited? He says, I’m trying to look like Greg! I will say, these books are very boyish, with some pottyish humor and the character is sometimes rude, so we do discuss the choices Greg and other characters make and ask are those the same choices we would make? Oh, my goodness, and now that I am looking at this picture, please disregard all the wrinkles. (and crumbs in subsequent pictures, ha)

Tuesday brought a day to have lunch with my girlfriend FabuLisa at the Counter Burger. They had a coupon for free fries with a purchase of a burger for all their facebook fans, so we cashed in those coupons for some yummy fries and good girl time. I love laughing it up with FabuLisa, she appreciates good sarcasm when she hears it… :)

Wednesday is an early day for Jordan with pickup right after lunch, but he is sometimes still hungry, so we headed out for some drive through. I asked him if he wanted to drive through, and he asked if we could eat at Daddy’s work McDonalds (translation: the McDonald’s on base at Pearl Harbor) sure son. As we drive on the base and make that turn and see all the ships in a row, he says, can we go eat at Daddy’s ship?

(my heart breaks. does he think Daddy has been working at the ship for the past 3 months and we just haven’t gone to see him?) Honey, Dad’s ship is on it’s way home from Guam, it’s not here yet.

Oh, is he coming home tomorrow?

No son, just over a week and a half.

Oh, okay, can we have a picnic?

Okay son.

He munched on these apple dippers and fruit punch and enjoyed his lunch. (he has only recently found out that they give caramel sauce with the apple dippers)

and more Jordan funniness. this child picked up this little plastic bird which is a furikake (seaweed/nori) dispenser and put his mouth on it and started sucking it out. me: Jordan! him: what? I just wanted a little seaweed. I made him hold up the chick for scrapbooking purposes. documenting the funny to get through the tough parts.

I bought some funny long grey and black stripey socks at target a few weeks ago. they are super cute and Jordan was the one who picked them out. I pulled them out of the drawer and he immediately wanted to put them on. I say, Jordan, these socks are longer than your legs. no mom, I’ll look like the duelers on Wii Resort! Okay, so i let him try them on. and they were truly longer than his legs. I promised him I would take a look for some similar socks the next chance I got. I found these cuties at target and he was so excited to wear them right away. He put them on and dueled around the living room. and then my mom called us to meet for dinner. and I can’t believe it, but I let my child go out with his blue and white shirt, blue shorts, black, grey and red socks and brown shoes. but he was so happy, i just had to smile and let it go.

we saw this freaky fish at the pet store. freaky!

we printed up the “rewards” from his leap pad tag reader. he’s getting pretty good with those scissors, both right and left hands.

how beautiful is this paradise I call home? I am blessed.

also one last tip. If you’re a long time blog reader of mine, you may remember when we last moved, I (in an ultimately bone headed move) gave the power cable for my silhouette to the cable guy who was picking up my cable box… and didn’t realize it until I tried to set everything up at the new house. I searched and searched. but ultimately accepted that I had given away the wrong cord. I emailed Quickutz and they sent me a replacement. I must say, I love companies who give good customer service. It makes me so happy to do business with them. My tip is this: I now label my power cords with a white sharpie paint pen. no question what this goes with!

one last bit of scrap, I have a tutorial up at Miss Mint’s blog for Frankenbag!

check it out!

That’s it for now. This week will be cleaning up and putting up welcome home signs (that are not made quite yet).

Thanks for stopping by, Love Love and Blog you later!

This picture was taken earlier this week. This bowl is from a sally foster fundraiser last year or the year before, place mat from target. I was just struck with how well they went together. Probably why I was so drawn to the place mats in the first place, and I’ve only realized this now. Jordan enjoying one of his favorite treats of all time. Scooby Doo Macaroni and Cheese. in all it’s orangey goodness.

The days have been passing me by. This past week, Jordan’s preschool was closed for fall break. So I have had him home with me while Jalen has had to continue on to school every day. We had grand plans to go to Bishop Museum, the beach, the water park, the pool… and on Wednesday Jordan relapsed into that blasted fever/cough/sneezing thing again. I really, really am truly sick of sickness. I know there are kids out there who are sicker, so I am still thankful that it is only a cold or whatever. but still. I hate it for the little one.

In news of Troy’s deployment, there is about two weeks left. They are doing an exercise and going to pull into port I think one more time briefly before heading home. It’s almost real. woo hoo! These past few months have gone by pretty well. no crying spells from the boys, but sad comments of I miss when dad was here. I wish dad was home. and those types of heart wrenching comments. I am also not looking forward to saying goodbye again in January when he leaves for a 6 month deployment. I just think it may be harder on the boys knowing what’s coming up in an even longer version. anyway, I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it. Also, Troy got promoted on October 1st to CWO3. The best part other than the raise? a new ID card. On the day I went for my current Military ID card photo, I got up and washed my then short hair and I think the power went out or something crazy like that because I did not have time to blow it dry. my hair looked crazy and the camera was mounted on the desk. nothing like an under the chin black and white webcam looking picture to have to show to every one. every time i go on the base, to check in at the doctors, pick up a prescription or go into a military store I have to whip out that little bit of ugliness everytime and I am excited to try my luck again for a better picture when Troy gets back. I’d show it to you, but thankfully there’s a law against copying it… and surely that applies to taking a picture or scanning it and showing it here, ha! I wonder if I can bring my own picture on a thumb drive? ha. as if.

Another lesson learned/taught this week. I have come to accept that I have slight OCD tendencies and have passed these on to my precious boys. (haha) I am not a fan of messy food. You know those pictures of babies with food all over their faces? I am completely grossed out and don’t think those are cute pictures. When we eat, we all have napkins and wipe as necessary. In fact, if my child does not have a napkin, he has been known to wipe said mess on shirt or shorts or whine, i need a naaakin! One day this week, I made jordan a peanut butter and orange marmalade sandwich for lunch and set it on the table. I called to him, your lunch is on the table. I walked into my scraproom for something trivial and heard him in the bathroom and the water running. I thought to my self, self- good job, he is washing his hands without a reminder! yay! but then as I walk back into the kitchen, he says, “Mom, my camera had peanut butter on it” (because he brought his camera to the table, doesn’t everyone bring their camera to meals, ha) in his best problem solving voice, “but it’s okay, ’cause I washed it off”. What?! Your little kid digital camera?! oh son. we don’t put our electronic toys in the water, but thank you for trying to clean it up right away. Let me take a look. so the LCD seemed to be out. the camera still made the noises like it was still taking pictures, so i just set it aside to dry. and Lo and Behold. 2 days later, it’s working again. yay for small miracles (see picture below). :)

Also this week. We were running into the Navy Commissary to pick up a few items and in the time it took us to get through there, it went from dark clouds to biblical downpour with no end in sight. I waited a minute then decided we’d just have to make a run for it. We were all very wet, especially me, since I had to stand outside the car and buckle Jordan into his car seat. The boys absolutely loved it. They have never played in the rain and so enjoyed it. We dried off with the millions of napkins in the car and went straight home to hot showers and hot chocolate.

I was heading out yesterday to run to the bookstore to see if I could catch a glimpse of the November issue of Creating Keepsakes... and stopped at the mailbox on the way out to find it in my mailbox. You could knock me over with a feather- I have a whole page! check out page 85~ :)

Thanks to Keisha Campbell… I was checking her blog and saw the beautiful pages she created mixing and matching the letter stamps from studio calico and had to jump in. I was on the fence about the atc card stamp (soo awesome) and then had to jump in with the scripty stamps. so so cute. and while I was at it, i got the mini attacher. can I say, when they say mini, they really mean it?! it is so so cute. the staples are tiny. like duh, i know the name is mini, but really really. like half the size of regular staples. so cute.

So I hope to be on the blogging train much more regularly, really. I enjoy it and it is so cathartic, so thanks for stopping by!

Love Love and blog you later!

The past few weeks we have taken to goofing off on Friday afternoons/evenings. This has, unfortunately, lead to spending most of the day on Saturday dealing with Jalen’s homework. This week, I decided that we would come home right after school and work on homework like every other weekday. Jalen finished his assignments, and that lead to free time on Saturday. We spent the morning studying for his upcoming tests this week and after lunch and a nap (for all of us!) we headed down to spend the afternoon at Bishop Museum. It has been a while since we’ve been down to the museum. Since our last visit, our annual pass had expired, the Hawaiian Hall’s renovation had been completed and a new traveling display opened up. I thought, what better time than now to renew?!

The new exhibit was animatronic dinosaurs. These are always really really cool. And unfortunately for a family with a four year old, also really really scary. Look who greeted us at the entrance…

This big guy moved and growled (roared?) but it was quite intimidating. I had to piggy back Jordan into the building.

we didn’t stay long inside this display, and I didn’t make Jordan look at anything too scary. There was an excavation area with sand and cast skeletons that was pretty cool, and a bunch of more moving, roaring dinos. We moved along to the newly unveiled Hawaiian Hall.

The inside of the hall has only minimal artificial lighting and a sign saying no flash photography. I had carried both my 50mm f1.4 and my 10-22 3.5. I got a few good shots, using pillars and counters to rest the camera on.

If you live in Hawaii and haven’t been to Bishop Museum in a while, I highly encourage you to make a visit. It is so beautiful! If you’re coming on vacation to Oahu, this is a must see (along with Polynesian Cultural Center).

For the past year, I’ve been saving up to buy a new computer. I wanted to buy a mac, but ended up going with a new PC. This one has 8 Gig of RAM, a 1 Terra-byte hard drive (woo hoo lots of pictures and digi scrap space!) and also has a blue ray player. It was very affordable, and I’m using my old *(still fabulous) monitor that I got last year. add to this CS4 and totally rad actions… I have been so happy. On my old computer, although I had installed 2 additional Gig of RAM, it was only recognizing a little over 3 Gig and CS4 kept crashing every time I’d try to open too many RAW files or run an action. very frustrating. so all in all, even though I didn’t get a mac *(or a new lens) I am thrilled with our new puter! yay, yay and double yay. I am hoping this will lead to better productivity! (read more scrappage, blogging and picture editing!)

Love Love and blog you later! :)

The absolutely fabulous US Air force Thunderbirds are in town this weekend. They have been flying practice this week and had two shows on Saturday and Sunday above Hickam Air Force Base. I love watching those amazing pilots flying in formation (not so much love when they do the fly at each other near misses). Luckily for us, their flight was right out our backyard (and occasionally overhead).

here was a weird situation during Saturday’s show. a bunch of balloons flew up from a neighborhood birthday party. and it flew directly towards the air show. I was wondering if it would get in the way, and I saw the plane get this close, yikes!

first a quick note, if you are reading this in a feeder, you’ll have to click over for the whole post/pictures. thanks! now back to the regularly scheduled post!

Oh.my.goodness. What a crazy week we had last week! I had been so busy with the boys and procrastinated going to the grocery store for such a long time, I actually had to cancel a trip to the water park with some friends. There were things that needed to get done, and restocking the house was one of them. Now, normally I am go alone during school/work hours, so that I am able to leisurely stroll the aisles, think about items to try out and enjoy the silence. Don’t get me wrong, other ladies have their children who fuss and cry and beg for items, but not me. NO… my boys are usually in school. I usually give the other mothers an understanding smile and hope it gets better for them while I say thank you for our teachers. BUT now, thanks to that infuriating thing called summer break, I have to drag my boys to the grocery store, but only as infrequently as possible. My boys are not horrible children. I love them, I do. But how much fun is it for them to have to try and be still while Mom contemplates this flavor of coffee over that? No fun at all, that’s for sure. Add to that a pay day weekend and a long holiday weekend and what do you get? more crowd and fussing than I cared for. I tried to get as many items as I could to put off the next trip as long as I could. Our shopping cart was fuuuull. bread.milk.soda.creamer.nutella.strawberryjam.orangemarbleade. you know, essentials! we finally got out and brought all the items home. I backed into the garage and noticed a puddle of water on the floor next to the freezer.

thinking to my self: OH NO! I bet Troy forgot to close the door all the way when they had ice cream the other night, tsk tsk. time to flip open the book of blame

I notice the items are still cold, but some are starting to defrost, and yet I put the frozen biscuits, french fries, chicken nuggets, chicken patties, steaks….all on a shelf in this huge freezer. I put away all the other groceries and when I head upstairs, I notice a dripping sound coming from the air conditioner unit. dang. i open it up, clean up the water as best as I can and put a bucket under the drip. I call the maintenance people to come fix it.

them: Sorry Ma’am, the first appointment is not until Monday. Is the unit still running?

**UHHH, it’s like 90degrees out, of course it’s running!

me: yes.

them: Well ma’am as long as the unit is running it’s going to leak and you don’t want to cause any damage to the unit… you might want to switch off the cooler and just run the fan

**check, like that’s going to happen

me: okay, then I’ll see the repairman monday at 11am.

We go about our business, doing laundry, eating lunch etc, and I go back out to the garage to check on the freezer. I hear a fan running and items are still cold, but not frosty yet. Later I would figure out the freezer is broken. It’s blowing hot air and I had to throw out most of the food I had just bought and all of the food I had in there. :( Then a message on facebook from a friend that my blog is giving a malware alert from Google. what the??? after a lot of calls/emails with Network Solutions they have cleared out a script that was installed in my blog. I updated my blog software and my theme version, and for now, things are going well. I don’t understand the brain works of people who are so malicious with their computer skills?! If only they could use their powers for gooood! I am now happily running WordPress v 2.8.1 and hopefully will be able to avoid any future security compromise!

On the Fourth, we headed out to Ford Island to catch the Pearl Harbor Fireworks again. Unfortunately we got there a little too late and some people were already camped out in our spot! I grumbled and grumbled about the boat in my way. And in retrospect, I should have embraced the boat and used my wide to shoot at least some of the fireworks. (**next on my wish list, a better tripod!)

early on in the evening, i snapped some ttv shots of the boys eating McDonald’s. I flipped these shots so the writing would be facing the right way…

Here is a shot of the boat that was blocking my shot! Last year we were further to the left of the tree, so i could see the water and the fireworks reflecting on the water. But still a cool longer exposure shot. :)

The fireworks at Pearl Harbor started at 9 so I had lots of time to fuss with the camera and take pictures of the moon…

and finally a few shots of the fireworks, different view than last year:

Happy (belated) Birthday America!

I also wanted to share with you all that Troy is going to be going on a short(ish) 3 month deployment with his ship. They’ll be leaving on Jordan’s Pre-School orientation day, which is no fun. but really in the grand scheme of things, leaving is no fun no matter what day. He’ll be missing Jalen and my birthdays so I think we’ll be going out to a nice dinner to celebrate before he leaves. He should be home before Halloween some time, so we’re excited and looking forward to Trick or Treat with Troy! I will be sharing tidbits from his deployment (whatever he says is okay to share) just because it’s part of our lives. I’m not looking for sympathy, because it’s just a part of our life and there are tougher things that we could be going through. I do however appreciate prayers and positive thoughts of encouragement, safety and guidance for our leaders to make the best decisions they can make. Thanks so much for coming by!

Love Love and Blog you later!

Joscie, rhymes with bossy and so glad to be back!

Saturday is National Scrapbooking Day and I’d like to celebrate with a few very cool giveaways! Be sure to check back on Friday for the details! These giveaways will be good for Traditional, Hybrid and Digital Scrappers and other people who like cool stuff! ;)

Today we celebrated Wednesday. An average day in paradise where the boys got out of school early and Troy got out of work early enough (and no homework for Jalen) so we drove up to the North Shore. First stop at the Dole Plantation to take a picture of our current house guest flat stanley who is visiting from Alabama. The worlds largest maze is there and Jalen wanted to check it out. I told him, maybe next time. You know that maze is huge and you can’t see over the hedges, just like in Harry Potter… and he was ready to get back in the car and keep on down the road. :)

Next stop in Haleiwa for Shave Ice at Matsumoto’s. This is our very favorite place to get it. We always order strawberry shave ice with vanilla ice cream and today we added blue vanilla and condensed milk on top. OHmyFrozen heaven. it was so good!

When we finished those two off, we headed back down the road to the “turtle beach” and lucked out. Today there were 6 turtles on the beach. The Hawaiian Sea Turtles are an endangered species so you can’t get too close, but we were lucky today and got lots (and lots) of pictures. they are so beautiful.

then down the road again to Waimea Bay, also known to Jordan as the “lucky stick beach”. The last time we went there he and Jalen picked up some “lucky sticks” there and thereby coined the name.

We made it back home in time to make dinner and have a mostly quiet evening. we are blessed. by the way, aren’t they looking cute in their new sunglasses and watches from Target?! They look like big boys, I just can’t get over it.

I also want to thank my friend Eileen who sent me some blog love last week, You are a sweetheart! :)
