Have I ever told you that I am an obsessive paper nudger? This means that I will arrange, rearrange and nudge elements, papers, pictures etc for a long time before I will declare a page done. On this occasion, I did this one with the small pictures first, then said, what if I made on picture really big? and reworked it a little bit. and the result? two slightly different versions of the same layout. seriously. I have a hard time resisting the large picture.

I am constantly looking at groups of things, establishing patterns and order.  When I came upon this display of Kitchen Aid Mixers at the Navy Exchange, they were not in ROY G BIV order and I felt compelled to rearrange them, so I looked around and then did it.  it’s silly, I know.

Mixed Media Sampler Sets in Red, Yellow, Blue and Green encourage you to spread your creative wings and experiment with mixing mediums! Each set includes a Stamper’s Big Brush, Gelato Metallic Stick, Pastel Pencil and Art GRIP Aquarelle Watercolor pencil. Experiment with mixing colors and mediums or layer different mediums to create depth and details. Or try using your rubber stamps with the different mediums to see which effects you like the most.

Color Gelatos are creamy sticks infused with brilliant color. The color slides easily onto papers and can then be dissolved with water to create watercolor effects, or left to dry for vibrant bursts of color. Try stamping with the Color Gelatos, or apply a field of color and use a stamp to remove the color. Color Gelatos work wonderfully on flocked papers and embellishments too! Color Gelatos are acid-free and odorless.

I am excited to share my projects that I made using these products. I received a mixed media sampler and color gelatos in the red family. Because the Gelatos are water soluble and Glimmer Mist are water based, I decided to try my hand and using them like water colors.  I put a little gelato color on my acrylic stamp block and used my Glimmer Mist with a brush to mix up some pretty shimmery color. I stamped up some images from Hero Arts, some from Paper Trey Ink, and some from Maya Road with black versafine ink and then the best part, I just played with it. Colored more images than I needed, just to see how I liked the different color combinations.

• coloring directly on the paper and then adding water or glimmer mist with a brush
• misting the paper and then adding the gelato directly to the wet paper
• applying gelato to the block and spraying the block and using like water color
• wetting the brush and then putting the brush on the gelato and then painting
• used water too for no glimmer

• metalic gelato on this doily and used a wet brush to get the color wash all over
• add washi tape strips
• add thickers cool
• stamp are so with versafine black
• add thickers u

What I liked:

• versatility of the gelatos, I love water color so this was a fun thing to play with.
• shape of the aquarelle pencils and the paint brush- they were very comfortable in my hand.

What I didn’t like:

• I wanted more colors. but I guess that means I really liked it, huh? I think I need that blue set too. ;)

I used my silhouette to cut these leaves out of plain white cardstock.

I mixed up some paint and Jordan worked his art.

I added a little spritz of New Glimmer Mist too. so pretty!

please do excuse the blurry photos, I just had to share them anyway ;)  I wanted to glue these leaves to a few sticks and use them for decor but you know what? we have yard service and there are like no bare branches anywhere.  but anyway, we had our fun!

Scientist Jordan or Look Mom Chronicles, vol 2

I loved all the little bits and papers in the sincerely kit. I had a hard time deciding what to use, so full! So Jordan came to me and said, Mom, I want to wear my scientist shirt… and then we popped the lenses out of the 3d glasses and voila, my little scientist. He wore this all day long even out of the house. completely serious. love that kid!

Lava

journaling:  it was a pretty hot day out on the lava field and truthfully, if i had known it was a hike across the lava field and not a paved walkway, I probably would not have brought the boys on this hike.  However, it was beautiful and I am glad we did it.  I also loved seeing my happy green cons on the lava.  aug 2010

I could not resist the elements in Edeline’s Scary Boo kit and came up with a few hybrid Halloween cards. This one is my very favorite. Nothing like a little tongue in cheek passive aggressive vampire humor to make me smile ;)

Lace Circle Cards

• I cut Laina Lamb’s Lace Circle shapes out of white flocked vinyl on my silhouette.
• weeded the vinyl (picked out the unwanted pieces)
• sprayed each shape with Glimmer Mist (Granite and Key Lime Pie)
• embossed one card back with a Paper Trey Ink Woodgrain plate
• adhered the vinyl shapes to the card backs.
• added American Crafts (Dear Lizzy) Stickers, a crocheted flower, buttons with divine twine and a Stampin’ Up! Corduroy brad with American Crafts Dimensional Adhesive.
• rounded corners.

hybrid bookmarks

• I printed Kathy Martin’s Pencil it in items on matte photo paper
• cut out the pencil with a scissors, cut the lines with a paper trimmer and punched the half circles with my cropadile
• die cut the book worm with a Spellbinders circle die and a pinked circle out of cardstock.
• embossed both bookmarks with an Impression plate from Paper Trey Ink.
• added divine twine around the half circles and tied a knot.
• adhered the printed items to the book marks
• punched holes in the top of each book mark and added divine twine.

you are so cool

a few weeks ago I downloaded this ice cream kit and made some cards.  I also printed some plain scoops to color with my copic markers.  These colorful scoops have been sitting on my paper cutter for a few weeks waiting to be put together.  I am so in love with ROYGBIV, are you?

• Each scoop is printed in black on Neenah Solar white cardstock
• colored with copic markers
• hand cut and adhered with pop dots
• Sentiment is in thickers.

I can’t wait to see what new pea products I’ll be playing with this week!  There are new designers at Two Peas Digital!  ALSO there is a call for the Two Peas in a bucket Digital Creative Team!  I hope you’ll apply!

my secret admirer dropped off some beautiful *NEW* Glimmer Mist on my doorstep!! okay, it was actually the fedex person! ;) #scrapbook

I want to show you these goodies!

aren’t they pretty? So rich, I love ‘em!  I created a layout and posted the tutorial the other day over at the Tattered Angels Educators’ blog, check it out. ;)

The first challenge was to use Jen Martakis’ FREE digi template.  For the digi scrappers, use the template and for paper scrappers, use the template as a sketch.  Here is the layout I created:

The second challenge was to use a digi stamp or regular stamp on a card or layout (as a background). Not surprisingly, I reached for my Hero Arts Cloud Background stamp. I love this stamp and the memento blue ink. so so pretty.  I added a banner (yet another expected element) with bakers twine and washi tape flags.

The next challenge was to create a layout inspired by a tweet, a fb status update or blog post or email.  I went with a recent tweet.

then a challenge to use a digi die cut.  I used this awesome dressform shape from my pal, Chris(pea) to make a card.

and the last little mini challenge was to create a tag based on your emotions.  and does this tag say happy to you? it does to me.  This is a heidi swapp tag for Tattered Angels. It’s a gorgeous cream color with clear pearl embossed cursive and gold foil elements. it is gorgeous.  I just misted it with sunflower and added some yellow vinyl thickers and a bit of ribbon. :)

This morning I checked in at two peas and I was so excited to see that I won a prize for chatting at the crop, woo hoo! :)  Next time I will remind you ahead of time, it’s a lot of fun.

Jalen and I got home from the Big Island on Friday night and the past few days have gone by way to quickly.  I finally got a chance today to get some digi scrap time and hybrid time in.  The first layout is called Kahua Ranch.

journaling: we arrived by bus to Kahua Ranch in Kohala on the Big Island. We took a small walking tour of the ranch and saw some orphaned animals, the sheep shearing area and the ranch chapel. The kids rolled in the grass, touched animals and pulled weeds. We enjoyed our lunch with this beautiful view. It was a great visit to such an amazing place.

journaling: We were walking on the beach before dinner and saw a lot of cool looking shells. You picked one up and said, “Look, it’s a Hawaiian Shell Money! Can I keep it?” How could I refuse? I said, “Sure, put it in your pocket.” We went on for about thirty minutes gathering shells. When we got back to the car, we put them in a container and you were so excited. When we got home you declared, “If we got to the store, I’m keeping my Hawaiian Shell Money.” I think you got the idea from a Dr. Seuss Book we’ve been reading called One Cent, Two Cent, Old Cent, New Cent: All About Money. It tells how seashells were used to barter and trade, a handful of shells and you had it made!

I created this card by using Laina Lamb’s Digital Die cut files with my silhouette. I cut some making memories paper and October afternoon paper. Glimmer misted with Iridescent Gold, pop dots and a button and some thickers letters and stitching. a card to make the recipient smile :)
