Finding my way out of the funk

Hello friends! I have been in a little funk since Troy had to leave with his ship at the beginning of this month. I really felt well the day after the PBSC donation, so thankful to not have anymore body aches. But little did I know that my two little germ mongers would be sharing their germs with me. Jordan had a little runny nose and sneezing and Jalen had a runny nose that morphed into a cough that stuck around for a while. By Sept 8 my right ear was inflamed and I was sporting a sinus headache and swollen glands. On Saturday the 10th I was dealing with possible the worst headache of my life. seriously. and thankfully on Sunday the 11th we felt well enough to go to church. We went to lunch and then straight back to the house and got back in bed. For the most part we have been keeping close to the house. Back in the homeschool groove and most days the boys have been doing really well with their new schoolwork. But the funk, yes the funk. My little pity party of I don’t feel well and my husband is gone can lead to watching lots of movies, tv and reading. My favorite means of escape. The only bad thing is since we homeschool, I’m busy with the boys and their school work during the day so my obsessive reading or watching happens post 8pm. and telling myself at 2:30am, hey, GO to sleep fool! I am declaring the end of that. I am glad to report that we finally got on our bikes again this past week and it sure felt good to get the heart moving again.

and what have I been filling my time with? reading and watching movies and tv.
I finally finished the memory keeper’s daughter. It has taken me three attempts but finally I finished it. It was okay but not something I’d recommend.

Just started reading Gone with Jalen. I like to read the same books with him so we can discuss. :)

Can I just say, I love love love watching series on Netflix or on DVD by the season. No commercials, no waiting. Here are some of the shows I’ve watched in this format, one after another.

but recently my obsessive late night tv watching has me jumping on the True Blood Bandwagon. I must say, we gave up HBO probably a year ago since we almost never watched. I’ve been watching some of my friends on facebook commenting about True Blood so I thought I’d check it out. We bought three seasons on DVD and started watching. I like the characters and find the stories interesting. I could do without all the cussing, orgies and gore. but you know, I like a good story and will follow the characters…

One late night before Troy left we caught a show on some channel, not even sure which one… but we watched the show and liked it. It’s called Heartland and it’s a canadian series. We checked into Netflix streaming and season 1 and part of season 2 were available so we watched those. and then ordered Seasons 2 & 3 on DVD. I do love this family show. It’s wholesome and hokey and we love it. It’s currently in Season 5 in Canada and we can’t even get the DVDs for season 4 yet.

NEW TV SEASON

I’m looking forward to the new TV season starting up soon. I have to tell you, I signed up for a service called Klout. It rates your social media influence and offers perks from different companies. You are not required to use or tell about the products but you can. I was fortunate enough to score a perk from FOX. I’m a #FOXVIP. Fox sent me a green hoodie with the FOXVIP logo on it and access to early viewing of their new shows New Girl and Terra Nova.

Because I watched Life on Mars, I was already a big fan of Jason O’Mara who stars in Terra Nova.

MONDAYS

Monday Sept 26 a two hour season premier. I was very excited to screen the first hour of this premier, and am very excited to see where it goes. I can see myself being a fan girl of this one.

TUESDAYS

The season premier of Glee is on Tonight- Sept 20, back to school with my favorite McKinley High Students.

New Girl follows Glee with Zoey Deschanel as Jess. She is described as “adorkable” girl who moves into a loft with 3 strangers after a bad breakup. I want to root for this show. There are some funny parts but I hope the characters will go through person growth or this will not be one I’ll continue to follow.

FRIDAYS

Friday Sept 23 is the season premier for Fringe. I was so excited to get a preview of the first two episodes of the Fringe Season. Troy and I are big fans and it was a like a mind blowing family reunion. I am so excited to see where the show goes this season. Can I also admit that I love Walter? I’d love to bake him some sweets. :) really I do love them all.

House season premier Oct 3. I’ve been out of the House loop for awhile now but I am happily jumping back in. I’ve already watched the season premier thanks to FOX and I am excited. plus I love aubs from October Road is a prison doctor….

I had some time to play with my digi scrap the other day and was inspired by my next ATC swap subject, TV shows. I whipped out this digi paper and stamp from Chelsea Parsons and glittery alphas from Miss Mint and it all came together pretty quickly.

I got the pictures from fox.com they are offered for free as screen savers or desktops or something like that.

journaling: I started watching Glee about 2/3 of the way through the first season. I went back and watched all the episodes I could find on fox.com. Then I got my husband hooked. and then we bought the first episodes via iTunes. Now we’ve got it programmed in our dvr and I’ve got both soundtracks in my favorite playlist. I love the singing , dancing and the characters too! We are gleeks at heart.

Today as I was reading GalleryStandouts.com I see they liked this layout too, thanks Ladies! :)
