I want to tell you, since I have become a member of Samantha’s Creative Crafters, I have received a load of different crafty goodness. Samantha creates Digital Scrapbooking Supplies, Digital Die Cuts for Silhouette, Spellbinders Dies, and fabric from Riley Blake. I am so lucky, it just can be a little tough to narrow down which goodies to work with.  This month I have a digital layout to share.

I used the marquee tool to create a rectangle and then used the polygonal lasso tool to deselect a triangular shaped cut out to create a banner. I duplicated it and used it as a clipping mask for all these beautiful papers from Samantha Walker’s Cuckoo 4 U  Blue Papers. I also used the custom shape tool to add a few hearts and clipped papers to them.  I also added a few hearts from Samantha Walker’s Cuckoo 4 U Blue Elements. These pictures were taken by Marina Miller of Red Heart Photography and used with permission. :)

Jalen has just started going to youth group at church and it meets right after our service when we usually eat lunch.  Our new routine is going to lunch without him and bringing him take out when we pick him up.  I cut a 4×6 piece of the take out bag and slipped it into a pocket.  I also stamped a like stamp (thinkgeek.com) I also date stamped a lot in this week’s spread instead of the thickers like the previous weeks. I was also inspired by Allison Waken’s customizable stamps to dig out my stamp set. I also did lots of hand journaling on the folded cards.

ps. i got this dress from eshakti.com. You can order by your measurements and they will custom make clothing for you and it really is a reasonable price.  If you have a hard time finding clothing in the store to suit your taste, you might try it. It’s the price I pay for being a big girl.

as soon as I saw this super cute kit from Gen Bursett, I knew what I wanted to make. I love the new show called New Girl. It’s on fox and in the opening credits, they sing, who’s that girl? (it’s Jess) only in my case, it’s just jos. This past week’s show featured a little artsy girly girl rant by Jess and I thought it was so funny, I had to use it for my journaling.

Add a strip of decorative tape over the seam.

I had a few questions to address:

Thankfully, we are done with the testing. I really feel it is an interruption to our regular schedule, and personally I don’t do well with that kind of thing. The test is also based on what the schools are teaching and not necessarily what we are teaching/learning at home so that can be stressful, especially for the student. The school in our neighborhood has been very nice to us and I do appreciate that. (and thanks, I really had fun making the new header)

I haven’t tried Photosheet to make the smaller photos, I usually use photoshop to create the collages and then print at home. I can’t wait to see your project as you have time to work on it!

thanks so much (happy-scrappy) Sam! :) I made my templates and printed at home.  My template was 12×12 and I cropped it down to 6×12 to print each page.  The paper is some photo paper that i purchased at the store when they stopped carrying the wide format printers.  It was a 50 pack of 13x 19 photo matte paper.  I simply trim it down to 8.5×13 and then run it through my HP printer. (still dreaming of a wide format printer some day)

Veronica, I got a Canon 5D mk ii just before Christmas! I’m so so happy with it, I’ve been dreaming for quite some time.

Project Life Title Page Part 1

I have included an extra Christmas card in the top right corner. The picture for the Christmas card as well as the bikes and the converse picture are all from our family photo shoot with the fabulous Marina Miller of Red Heart Photography (used with permission). I cut the flags on my silhouette (new blades are #1) and used Paper Trey Ink Kraft Cardstock. Studio Calico wooden houses (two stacked) and circle graph paper and brown arrow sticky notes.  The red numbers are some I scored from a snack bar menu board (and i have a ton!) I trimmed the top off one everyday life journaling card and cut the edges to match my other flags. Red and blue washi tapes from Hambly. American Crafts Thickers (blue glitter). I used my sewing machine to stitch with black thread and my typewriter to type on some flags. some close ups, click any for a larger view:

The circle numbers and little days are stickers from the Clementine kit.  I am pretty impressed with the white stickers, they seem to disappear enough that they look like they were added before printing the pictures.

because I had several portrait oriented photos (read * i didn’t plan well when I ordered prints at Target*) I added this page protector for the right side of week 1.  I used the bottom half of the Red everyday life journaling card to form a sort of pocket for the take out menu. I also added a strip of zigzag stitching for interest. Red Speech bubble sticky note is from Studio Calico. White 3 is vinyl thickers (really old) I added journaling on these grid cards from my Clementine Kit because they were the only landscape oriented journaling cards. I copied and pasted information on the photos from my blog and printed using this template from Paislee Press. You should get these templates too. FREE! I added a number sticker to each card and date stamped each card as well.  I also had extra spaces so I added some other photos. close ups, click to view larger:

I have to tell you, my ocd brain was not happy that I had to use this shape of page protector at the beginning of this week because chronologically my first picture was landscape AND it was already printed at full size. but I’m getting over it.  I had extra spaces for ephemera (fancy word for crap  memorabilia I hoarded in the name of this project) and truthfully, the kfc bag was actually from the first week, but you know what? I’m okay with that. AND it felt good to be guilt free in throwing out the other receipts that I had saved but ended up not using. win-win. When I was ready to add journaling, I figured that since I hadn’t added anything bulky to the grid journaling cards, I was able to run them through the printer again and use both sides. even more win. I use a strip of washi tape to hold the cards in place, it peels off nicely. If you don’t want to use washi tape, you can also use blue painters tape.

these pages were printed on 6 x 12 and placed in a 6 x 12 page protector in the middle of week 2 spread.  This picture is obviously a composite picture of the front and back of the page.

Week Two (right)

I stitched a little napkin roll paper from CPK onto my journaling card. I also stitched the number from the barber shop right on top of the picture. I added date stamps on everything. For the bottom right side I printed the journaling onto one card with a space in the middle so I could cut and paste appropriately. I also had a little space fora few extra photos and i just used my mini stapler from tim holtz for that.

whew! and that’s it for my first two weeks.  I have to tell you, I picked up some photo paper in both 4×6 and 8.5 x 11 to print at home.  I have an HP Photosmart printer. It’s not the best ever, but it’s good enough for me.  I realized that I have to think about what sizes I want to layout in my book before I make prints to minimize waste.  I am pretty happy with the results so far.  If you’re on the fence, I am glad I have started it.  I think I should have just ordered grid cards, page protectors in A and D and 6×12. I do like the number and day of the week stickers and the papers/journaling cards are cute.

this picture was snapped by our firstborn this past Sunday at our regular post church lunch at CPK.  I started thinking about some of our stats as we look forward to our 16th wedding anniversary next month.  journaling: 3 month courtship, 12 addresses, 6 deployments, countless cats and 1 dog, 2 kids, 3 cars, 2 vans, 2 trucks, 2 motorcycles, almost 16 years of wedded bliss ;).  I used Samantha Walker Harvest Moon Mega Kit. I created the tag by combining a rectangle and a hexagon and topping with a reinforcement.
