Scrapping Cell Phone Pictures

I don’t always have my big camera with me but I DO always have my cell phone with me. I mean always. Like if I leave the house and realize I left it, I turn around and go back home to get it!
My challenge for this week is scrap something with some cell phone pictures. Go take new ones or scroll through your cellphone gallery and see if any of those pictures are a story waiting to be told.

I grew up with an unusually spelled name so I am used to spelling it out and correcting it for people. I was not surprised but amused that when I said to the Starbucks barista, Joscelyne, she thought I said Johnson.

November Picture a Day recap

New Pea Projects

This week I picked 3 kits to work with over at TwoPeasinaBucket.com. The first was a template/alpha set from Shimelle… Templates really do make things so quick! Jalen built this solar system model out of tinker toys one day and then asked me if I could make a scrapbook page about it. I was more than happy to oblige! :)

The next three cards use Holly’s Olivia Kit. These flowers were just calling to be cut out. Easy peasy. I added some Japanese Masking Tape and some cardstock stickers that have been just waiting for this card. ;)

This last layout is a hybrid using Laina’s Summer Fun Digital shapes. I cut out the kite using her shapes, my silhouette and DearLizzy’s Papers. I have seriously been wanting to use these papers. and of course, everything is better with a little divine twine, don’t you think?

Easy Hybrid Challenge

Aloha Ladies! My challenge, should you choose to accept it is to create a card (or a set while you’re at it) or a piece of art or inspirational quote and print it out on something other than white. I used Kraft, no surprise there, right? I love the look of screen printed or letter pressed cards, so I attempted to copy the look by creating monochromatic card designs.

altered lunchbox as a cute purse

The girls over at Concroption.com were issued a challenge to alter an item that would be mailed to us by Tricia… I was so thrilled to see this super cute Peeps Lunchbox in my mailbox. I thought about it and decided to make it into a purse. I’m always up for making something I can use!

I started out by taking it apart and wet sanding it with 600 grit sand paper. I primed it with acrylic primer and followed up with two coats of my favorite acrylic paint. :) I traced a maya roads chipboard bird on the front with an american crafts pigment pen. I painted the bird with a darker shade of acrylic paint. I let it dry and then coated it with a glossy coat. I think it yellowed the color a bit… so I don’t love love love the color, but it is pretty close to the color I wanted. I added a adhesive rhinestone as the eye for the bird and a basic grey branch rubon.

I created a hang tag by die cutting a piece of Teresa Collins houndstooth transparency with my Top Note Die in my big shot. I cut it in half and then punched the cut edge with my Stampin’ Up! Spiral notebook punch. I also Die Cut a Quickutz J out of coaster board and glued it to the tag. I punched a hole on the top of the tag and tied a piece of grosgrain ribbon on to hang from the handle.

I lined the inside with white felt and blanket stitched the edges with aqua embroidery floss. I also added aqua eyelet trim to the inside.

I hope you like it, I know I love it! And I found some peeps to match too! :)

do it now, the layout edition

I finally had a chance to get back into my paper supplies, it’s been far too long! We had a challenge at Concroption for the DT members to scrap a 2 page 12×12 layout about our dreams/goals for this year. I scrapped my phrase for the year, do it now.

Materials: Heidi Swapp- Patterned Paper (strawberry lemonade dots, hearts), Chipboard Letters (Ledger), Making Memories- Flowers, Buttons, Paper Piercer, ruler, Glue Dots, Kaiser- Self Adhesive Pearls, 7Gypsies Speech Bubble stamp, Stampin’ Up! Kraft Cardstock, scalloped circle punch, scalloped edge punch, foam squares, Bazzil mini pompom trim, corner rounder, prima flower, wrights mini flower trim. The journaling is taken directly from my blog post and printed on a piece of Kraft Stampin’ Up! cardstock.

also, one last bit of fabulous scrappy news, I got an email from Memory Makers requesting three layouts for publication in the July/August 2009 Edition! :) I am so excited! :)
