I wanted to share a few goodies with you. I made two of these easter cards for the boys… super easy, I cut two pieces of American Crafts Bunny cardstock, folded them in half and added kaiser crafts black pearls for the eyes. I printed Happy Easter on white cardstock using PSE6 and used my stampin’ up! oval punch to punch it out. I layered over a Stampin’ Up! scalloped oval punched shape. Foam mounting squares and the cards were done!

This month’s Concroption DT ATC swap was themed Pet Peeves. I joked with the ladies that I’d have a hard time narrowing it down because there were so many, or I’d have to do a series to cover them all! I really and truly believe that it is those things that bother you about yourself that bother you most in others. You remember the old addage of it takes one to know one? Well the one I chose to document was tardiness. I absolutely hate being late. I think it’s completely rude to be late. I hate when I’m late and I hate when others are late. I imagined myself seething and steam blowing out of my ears. I drew a picture and actually liked it. but when I tried to duplicate it (i had 9 to do for the swap) I was not thrilled with the result. I ended up scanning #1 and using the wacom and PSE6 to create a digital replication. I printed out the outlines and colored each one with my copics, LOVE those pens. I am pretty happy with the way they turned out :) and I can’t wait to see what my teammates have done for their peeves!

the dot brushes and curved frame are from Karla Dudley’s Spring 09 Extras kit, check it out.

The last little whipped up project this afternoon was an Earth Day inspired notebook. Now I have made recycled minibooks in the past, but previously I covered the recycled parts with paint. I kept this one as is and I knew my boys would love it. It’s from the thin mints box! i just trimmed the front and back panels, trimmed up some manila paper a scant smaller and rounded corners with my paper gator, bound with my binditall and 5/8″ wires. :)

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll blog you later!

I was so thrilled when my friend Noel asked me if I would be willing to host her daughter Emma’s Flat Stanley. Why, of course! I would love to, please send him on his way! When he arrived in our mailbox, I immediately laminated him and gave him a lei to welcome him in the traditional Hawaiian way. I took pictures along the way of his visit. We did normal things like grocery shopping at the commissary, and fun things like going to the North Shore, enjoying shave ice and going to the beach. I collected my favorite pictures and added the journaling and a little aloha flat stanley logo to each. I saved to my usb drive and headed down to Wal Mart to print. Unfortunately their one hour printer that I usually use was broken so I took the files across the street to Sam’s Club. The prints did not turn out exactly how I wanted (it cropped the very edges of some prints) but I though that Emma would forgive me and I took 2 sets of prints home(I had to get a set for me!) I put the photos in order and used my atg gun to adhere them back to back. I cut a plastic “hawaiian” placemat for the covers and punched it all in the bind it all. I used a 1″ ring and bound it all together.

Here is a peek into our visit with flat stanley:

I hope you’ve enjoyed your island tour along with flat stanley :)

There were more more more pictures, but I wasn’t sure how many you wanted to see of stanley next to the pineapple field, next to the macadamia nut orchard, next to the next beach etc etc etc. ha! We certainly enjoyed his visit and were so happy to send a little aloha spirit to Washington!

Thanks for stopping by!

I created these simple calendars in just a few easy steps, I call it calendars for the under achievers because it’s a lot of “pop” for a little work! Anyone can do it, including you!

First I selected 12 photos from the past year. I added a mat from Peppermint Creative’s Custom Bracket Mat 2 and added a Peppermint Creative Modern Calendar Stamp on top. Here are a few:

I saved each one at 300 dpi 6″x4″ size. I took the files on a disk to Wal-Mart and ordered one hour prints. Before paying for the prints I checked all of the prints and asked for a few months to be reprinted because the days were cut off on the bottom (no charge for fixing mistakes). I brought it home and collated each year. I cut up 12×12 sheets of black chipboard into 6″x4″ pieces. I used my bind it all to punch holes in all pieces. Although I could fit all 12 pictures in the punch area, I only punched 6 at a time for a cleaner punch. I also used the spacer bar to create the punched holes closer to the edge.

When binding projects with the bind it all, I recommend stacking the back cover on top of the front cover on top of all inside pages. Insert the 1/2″ binding coil in through the back cover so the ugly part will be at the back of the book. Squeeze gently in the bind it all and voila your perfectly bound project.

For the covers, I used my new spellbinders pinked circle dies with my Sizzix Big Kick to cut my flocked damask doodlebug paper into large circles for the front covers and a smaller circles for the back covers. I also used my quickutz Studio dies to cut foam numbers 2009 and adhered with the xyron machine. I stamped my “from the studio of” stamp on cardstock, punched with a Stampin’ Up! circle punch and mounted on the small pinked circle with foam pop dots.

This was the first time I ever used the Heidi Swapp masks, and I must say, I really liked them. I think one trick to make them look better is to let the design go off the edge. They are thicker than I thought they’d be and made a super cute design on the plain chipboard covers. I also love the Teresa Collins Bracket shape covers.

This week Teresa Collins, Maya Roads and all stickers are on sale over at Concroption. Check it out! :)
You can get your “Joscelyne Cutchens” Designer kit for 19.99!

so you want to make a book with your bind it all? you have so many options. here are a few tips that I wish I would have heard before I got started….

1. you can either make the pages inside your book smaller or the same size as the cover. (or all different sizes as I have done in the past)

2. to punch holes in the item, you want to find the “center” of the item you are punching. line that up with the center arrow in the punching part of the bia. then switch to the “continuous” and continue to punch your holes. BE AWARE of the end of you item that you are punching. You do not want a partially punched hole on the end of your item! and obviously you are not going to mark it like this… this is just for demo purposes!

Happy Leap day ladies! I heard that AMR is adding one more member to it’s DT from the previous finalists. Next Saturday there is a March Kit reveal, new DT member announcement, an online crop, where I’m hosting a challenge posted at 9-10 pm eastern and Stacey has another announcement.

So here is the extent of my scrapbooking madness, as if you didn’t already know. I am part of a circle journal group and the current month’s circle journal theme is sweet treats. we are to share a recipe, take a picture of the recipe and scrap it. This would have been done and out the door to the mailbox on February 15th, if I hadn’t been so caught up with Valentine’s day, our anniversary, Troy’s birthday, oh, and making 15 projects for Concroption.com DT challenge. SOOOOOOOO, last night I made a chocolate pound cake, just so I could take a picture of it, just so I could scrap it, just so I could do my circle journal entry. IS that madness, or what? atleast the cake was super yummy, all the boys enjoyed it… and I took some in for the teachers at Jalen’s school.

My van has been acting up, I have had to jump start it a few times now and yesterday was the worst. I had to jump start it twice, once to take Jalen to school and another time to pick him up. Today was Parent teacher conferences at his school and I knew I didn’t want to be trying to get a jump start at the school. So my sweet hubby drove down to the autoparts store this morning and got me a new battery and installed it. We were heading out the door to the school and I knocked my favorite travel coffee mug off the counter and broke it. I swear I have the worst luck with those things. either they end up leaking on me or I break them, or they crack or whatever. but the cup was full of coffee that was now spreading across the kitchen floor. Troy says, just go to your appointment, I’ll clean this up. He is such a sweetheart!

When we got home from the conferences, I am thinking I am going to scrap my circle journal project… but I casually log into concroption.com to check out the gallery/swatches/february to check out the status. and I see that Kimmy, the super scrapper extrordinaire has made 17 projects! hmmm I think, do I scramble and make more goodies today? or do I just concede her victory, after all she did do a good job.

Here are my projects:
You have seen flat joscie…(if you have not see her here) and know she’ll be travelling the world soon… and she needs a travel journal to document her travels. so here it is. a 6 x 12 journal. I cut the chipboard and kraft cardstock to 6×12 and bound it all with my favorite bind it all tool… the covers are Teresa Collins Bella Girl Paper and inside is a journaling card from her journal it line. CHipboard letters are scenic route (love them!) and they are inked with color box chalk ink and a prima hydrangea.

this is a mini year in review for 2007. it is black cardstock cut to 6×6 and uses Teresa Collins journal it papers (the blank calendars), and damask. color box charcoal ink. HEidi Swapp chipboard numbers. Making Memories glittered chipboard flourish. Stampin’ Up Notebook punch, alphabet stamps. sewing machine, thread and pinking shears. 7 gypsies gaffers tape. :) I didn’t take pictures of all the pages … they are very similar and not filled up yet, so be looking for the completion down the road.

ALL BOY… a 12×12 layout on black bazzil. 7 gypsies gaffers tape. Teresa Collins Journal it paper. Autumn Leaves letter tabs. HEidi Swapp chipboard letters. sewing machine, thread, pinking shears. Making Memories chipboard bracket, buttons. pigment pen. also, after i took this picture, the letter tabs were lifting, so i zigzagged some across the bottom. :)
I got my bind it all from Bonnies Best in georgia. we ordered them and had them shipped to MIL and she drove it down to FL last summer. http://www.bonniesbest.com/

YOU can also get one from Stacey at AMR http://allmomentsremembered.com/osstore1/product_info.php?cPath=49&products_id=403

and I finished my chocolate cake layout… I need to photograph it and get that posted here. and the result of my making these three things today means I didn’t submit for Becky’s sketch.

The sight of these little piggies in slippers makes me smile for so many reasons. First because they are just cute…but also because they are in slippers, in Hawaii. The fact that Jordan has these years in Hawaii, experiencing things that I did when I was growing up here…I just can’t explain.
Stampin’ Up! Kraft Cardstock.
My artist trading cards were a little challenging for me at first because they were so small…but in the end I was happy. 7 gypsies red tabbed ATCs. Prima pink hydrangea. Heidi Swapp tabbed journaling spots. Pigment journaler. American crafts ribbon. Pink bling.

the last group is my POTD album so far. I switched back to normal large rings until I really need the super supreme sized rings… The dividers are monthly dividers bought at an office store… I added a strip of Making Memories 5th avenue paper and maya roads stitched velvet ribbon. each “4×6″ picture is mounted to the same sized cardstock alternating two shades of blue… and the back of the cardstock is the journaling side for the facing picture. I used a Stampin’ Up! journaling stamp, daily news stamp and a date stamp. I have journaled for each day. It was very helpful that I put a little blurb on the blog/flickr account for each day…

wow, did you make it this far? So I am waiting to hear if flat Joscie has made it to Oregon yet… I should have made a book for her adventures… I have had several offers to have her visit. I am very excited. I have a circle journal to work on and a few other odds and ends. Hope this finds you all in good spirits, and I’ll blog you later!

You may have read posts that Troy’s Uncle Ricky and his family came to visit from Hiroshima, Japan this summer…. I knew I would make a mini book (or 4) to commemorate their visit and thank them for visiting and to celebrate what wonderful connections we made… I made one for Uncle Ricky and his family, one for us, one for my in laws and one for Konami (uncle ricky’s oldest daughter who is now living in Alabama)… The cover is clear cover stock, the back is chipboard, bound by one of my favorite tools, the bind it all. I used larger than necessary coils, and I like it that way. also found out that the stampin’ up notebook punch fits this coil arrangement…. cool if you want to add to an album/journal like this. the pictures are different sizes and I like it that way. I used a japanese newspaper from uncle ricky for the back covers of the journal and tabs… I scanned it and printed copies on plain paper…. glued to the covers and punched for tabs. I also punched out scalloped circles and cut them in half to make tabs… I cut kraft paper in strips for journaling… which i did by hand and I actually like it. I also used my stamps from the september KOTM. also i asked them all to print their names and write them out in Japanese on a white paper, I scanned and made them into brushes that I used on their individual pictures. I hope you like, I sure do!
