Digital Layout: Post Office 4SQ mayor by Joscelyne Cutchens

Journaling: I like to play a social networking game using my GPS enabled smart phone called foursquare.  I “check in” via the app on my phone whenever I go places.  If you check in the most, you become the “mayor” of a place.  One of my mayorships is at the Post Office.  I am there quite often sending packages to Troy, Kam or other friends across the globe.

birthday fun

August 7th, 2010 · Family

On Tuesday my girlfriend FabuLisa came by with a bouquet of balloons, a cake and a lei to celebrate my birthday.

We all headed down to bubba gump’s at Ala Moana for lunch.  Jordan loves the blue Jello and I love the accidental fish and shrimp.  I have to tell you, i had a bite of FabuLisa’s crab stuffed shrimp, HEY, that was good too.

The boys and I enjoyed this guava chiffon roll cake that FabuLisa brought by… with these super cute candles! :)

I have to tell you that I am so thankful that FabuLisa is my friend, she is a super sweet, considerate, smart and funny girl.  We always have  a great time, talking , laughing, shopping, eating and creating together. so.thankful.for.her.

You’ll also remember that Troy also ordered that Epiphanie Camera Bag for my birthday… well while in Japan he picked up  some super cute goodies for me too! (japanese washi tape, a diana and a recycling bin charm and a japanese glue stick)

1 yard pieces of cotton prints. they are so cute! of course the beans remind me of my pal Chrispea. :)

And my mother in law sent me this vintage apron… I love it! :)

Over at Facebook I got quite a few Happy Birthday wishes.  The simple act of sending a little message filled my heart.  As I read over each message (and added a thank you note) I thought about each person that sent the message and smiled.  I could remember something fun or funny or meaningful about most of the well wishers which added to the thankfulness.

Thank you for stopping by!

Fabulous News!

August 5th, 2010 · DT, Eye Candy Overlays

I have been a following the Vol 25. blog via my google reader for quite some time now.  I am not sure how I first stumbled on it, but I fell quickly in love with her quirky fun art. Hello, clouds, polaroids, hearts, typewriters, paper airplanes… I could go on and on.  Jessica’s art is available as prints, merchandise, stamps and overlays here.  These overlays are great for both photographers and (hello!) scrapbookers!  I saw that she was having a design team call and was ecstatic to be invited to be part of the Eye Candy Overlays team.

The first set of overlays I got to work with is called Ahoy Overlay Set(it’s on sale right now)!

The boys and I went down to see the pirate ship docked in Kahalu’u for the filming of the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movie.  I snapped pictures of the ship and the boys in front of the ship.  I used my totally rad actions for post processing and then added this ahoy shape to the picture. :)

Then I added this picture and others to a digital layout:

on location

Digital Layout: on location by Joscelyne Cutchens

In Photoshop I opened a piece of Kraft Paper by Miss Mint and a few curled frames.  I added the frames to the page and lined them up.  I added the photos under the frames.  I added the water shape under the block of pictures for the journaling and sampled the color from the sky in one of the pictures.  I added 3 clouds in white and lowered the opacity.  I added journaling and the title. easy peasy and oh so cute, if I do say so myself.  all that aqua sky and water make me happy :)

for my second layout I pulled out an old Halloween picture that I couldn’t resist:

cutest pirate ever

Digital Layout: cutest pirate ever by Joscelyne Cutchens

I opened a Graph paper, star and button from Miss Mint, Polaroid from Jen Allyson.  I processed the photo with Totally Rad Actions and placed it under the frame.  I added the Birds, waves and not all treasure is silver and gold word art is from the Ahoy Overlay Set.  The color for the birds and waves are sampled from the blue button.  I also created the word art for the title and used the same shade of blue.  One my favorite part of digi-scrap is being able to choose the colors you want to use! :)

Do you want to see more inspiration for the AHOY overlay set?

I can’t wait to play more with all of these awesome goodies from Jessica!  Thanks for stopping by!

Two Peas Tuesday v8.3

August 3rd, 2010 · DT, Two Peas in a Bucket, cardmaking, scrapbook

Thanks for stopping by! Today I have a few cards and a digi layout to share from last week’s two peas tuesday release.

Ice Cream Cards

When I saw Kathy’s ice cream cone shape I knew they’d be cute as patterned paper scoops.  Tricia Chapman’s Posh Baby Girl Papers fit the bill! I printed and hand cut.  added cardstock letters, some glitter on the letters and a swirl of divine twine to frame it up.

Wilna’s summer dyes kit is full of happy colors and was just right with this cotton candy shot from a recent birthday party we went to… It’s hard to beat fresh spun cotton candy! Frame by mary ann wise is one of my go to frames ;)

Thanks for stopping by!  This week I’ll be working with some more cute stuff and I can’t wait to share!

Two Peas Digital CT Projects

July 24th, 2010 · scrapbook

I have a few digi layouts and a few cards to share using this week and last week’s kits from Two Peas in a Bucket.

cookie monster

Digital Layout: Cookie Monster by Joscelyne Cutchens

Journaling: I am not normally a fan of messy-faced kids but I could not resist this one…

I love these Polaroid frames and the banner, of course.  The banner was ready made, I just added the buttons on top. I love it!

all of a sudden

Digital Layout: all of a sudden by Joscelyne Cutchens

Journaling: some days it feels like it was just yesterday that I had one little baby.  then I had a five year old and a baby. and now I have an almost ten year old and a five year old.  I’m afraid to blink and find myself at high school graduation.

This layout came together easily, thanks to Erica’s template.  I love the graphic feel of Erica’s templates.  I simply went back and pulled a few pictures of Jalen through the past few years, added some gorgeous patterns by Shelley and journaling, easy peasy!

I’ve seen these spiral flowers for a while now and thanks to Laina’s Spiral Rose design, I was able to whip up these flowers in no time at all:

Family Fun: Aquatic Edition

July 21st, 2010 · Family, Hawaii

We went out and purchased a family membership to the Waikiki Aquarium.  The boys and I took the guided tour via the handheld tourguides :)  Jordan was able to punch in the numbers and listen all by himself, I was quite impressed!

the boys are both listening and watching the two hawaiian monk seals…

inside my favorites include the jellyfish

the huge tank with sharks and grouper. and i do mean huge.

I don’t remember why he made this face, but it makes me laugh… ;)

on the aquarium lawn.  This grass is so beautiful.  I had visions of laying out in the grass for a photoshoot but it was slightly drizzly and they had a sprinkler going, so I just snapped this one shot.

We are looking forward to visiting the aquarium again and again :)

Family Fun: Literary Edition

July 16th, 2010 · Family

We live just  a few blocks from our neighborhood library and have finally started using it this summer.  We’ve signed up for the summer reading program and are logging our books read this summer.  We try to make it out there once a week.

This is the person checking off the reading list and handing out the incentives…

Ever since reading the Percy Jackson series, Jalen has been really interested in Greek mythology.

Jordan is looking for the books he wants to borrow. although he often says buy, I can’t imagine why?? hee hee.

I am very thankful for our local library.  The librarians are quite helpful and hey, free books? Who knew?!

Family Fun: Prehistoric Edition

July 14th, 2010 · Family

Pearl Ridge Shopping Center has a display of several Animatronic Dinosaurs and it’s free to go visit and participate in a few activities.  We went down on a Saturday with my mom and the boys.

Jordan got down and dug around for some dino bones… He was having a good time too :)

There was a train ride but Jordan was not interested in riding and Jalen was too big.  I love this view though. :)

I loved the sun shining on the Triceratop’s horns :)

Jalen cracks me up.

Jalen was mimicking this dino… then offered it a sip of his icee. :)

We rode on the monorail to the other side of the mall to see the rest of  the dinos…

We also visited borders where Jalen bought a Despicable Me book. Can I tell you I love the fact that he is willing to spend his own money on books?! I love that I am raising readers.

Journaling:   We finally had a day where it was sunny and we were all healthy so we headed down to the community pool.  We had a fun time splashing around.  4 July 2010.

I slightly modified Jen’s template and recolored Wilna’s alphas.  Gotta love scrapping cell phone pics.  Until I can get a waterproof camera solution, this is the best it’s going to get… ;)

Family Fun: Battleship Edition

July 8th, 2010 · Family, navy life

On Tuesday around 10am I thought, maybe I’ll round the boys up for a quick swim then home again for lunch and just in time for Jordan’s nap.  Then I realized, hey braniac, the pool is closed on Tuesdays.  Okay, plan b. let’s pick up some lunch and either go eat it at the beach or down by “the path” and take some stale bread to feed the fish.  We picked up some subway and made our way to the path.  It is a paved path where people walk, run and bike next to the channel where the ships pull in and out of Pearl Harbor.  We parked near the very end and enjoyed our lunch.  I noticed that there were quite a few people out near the path sitting around so i guessed maybe the ships would be pulling out for the RIMPAC exercises.  We sat on the wall and tried to feed the fish.  These fish were not to hot on our bread crumbs so we just decided to sit out for a while and see if any ships came by.  The first one we saw was a submarine.  I am not sure which one, but it was cool.

We also saw a Coast Guard ship come by.  I also noticed that there was quite a bit of activity at the very end of the path where some people were setting up a little canopy and moving some equipment.  I thought maybe there was a function set up going on.  Then a man came by and asked me if I had heard what was going on?  I say, no sorry.  He says, We’re shooting for a new movie, it’s called Battleship and we’re going to be getting the carrier coming by.  So I’m thinking he’s going to ask us to move… and he says, do you want to be in the background?  oh, okay.

Here is the Ronald Reagan:

Can I just say that we were out there much longer than I expected to be out there and we all got sunburned. and my poor poor little fair skinned Jordan really got a burned face. I must have slathered 20 applications of aloe to his red face over the last few days.  He looks better thankfully. Hello, Mother of the Year.  I have declared that we will sun block every time we go outside for more than walking to the mailbox.  But anyway. this is Anthony, he was the PA that was talking to us.  He’s from Lanai, so I asked him if he knew a classmate of mine and he says, oh I know the family but they’re all much older than me. (I’m thinking, hey, we’re not that old, ha ha) anyway.  It was a fun adventure.

Thanks for stopping by for this edition of family fun :)
