Project Life: week 3

January 27th, 2012 · craft, scrapbook

Hello Friends, thanks for stopping by! I finally had the time to finish up the last journaling card for last week and got my Project Life week 3 photographed. I am still really enjoying this project!

I included a gas pump receipt stapled to a journaling card.  I added my journaling by hand, added the orange stickers.   I had to include this shot of Jordan doing his math.  He always touches his fingers to his chin or nose when he counts. I think it is so cute. I also did this week’s dates on a white flag instead of a kraft flag. I am resisting going back to change it to match the previous weeks.Hambly Washi Tape.  Label from a treat we bought at Shirokiya: custard filled fish shaped waffles. super yum. also thickers numbers and smash date stamp in gray.
Date stamp right on the picture. Studio Calico Scrap Pads, machine stitching.  Jordan says: I bet Miso Soup would be really good at the North Pole.  He also called our breakfast Muff-funs.

Also, in case you are wondering, bfdof is our family phrase: Big Fat Day Of Fun.  It is used like this: Are  you ready for a big fat day of fun?  or Oh, there is no whining on our big fat day of fun! OH! No arguing on a big fat day of fun! A big fat day of fun is any day where we are out all day on our adventures. this does not include shopping trips or that kind of thing. only stuff that could be considered fun by the majority of the family members. like the aquarium, zoo, museum, movies that kind of thing.  This week I really embraced the freedom of Project Life. I chose not to include some of my #p366 pics and chose more that had a story to go with. it makes me happy.

Thanks for Stopping By!

Hello Friends! I did not go with today’s prompt because I knew we were heading out on a little adventure today to the State Capitol.  Troy had to pick up a letter from the Governor so we planned a little trip to walk around and enjoy the building.  We parked in front of ‘Iolani Palace and fed the meter. I caught a picture of this skateboarder going down the sidewalk.

my picture of the day. I loved the lines, the reflections, everything.

we also took a little trip down to ala moana shopping center to pick up a wristband holder for Jordan’s iPod Nano.  I saw this and had to stop:

thanks for stopping by!  Tomorrow I’ll post my week 3 Project Life Pages :)

Hello Friends! Today’s prompt has to deal with focus. My main focus these days is on homeschooling these two.

No, I don’t have the patience of a saint. and YES it would be easier to send them to school. and YES it is a lot of work. but in the grand scale of my life, I count these two as pretty important.

Hello Friends!  Today’s prompt was duplicate, two, a copy, repeated. I was thinking about a shot with both of my boys, that’s an easy two.  I got an email asking me if I was available to help with a little project at the church today so I said sure, we’d be down.  When we turned onto the street, this is what we saw.  The electric company people working hard doing something waaaay up there.  two cranes/cherry pickers, voila. #p366 was born.

So, here is the project we helped with at our church.  There is a public elementary school very close to our church and many of the students come from families in poverty.  While they get free/subsidized breakfast and lunch at school, near the end of the month, their families may be running low on food so they might not get much more than that.  Enter our church and a fellow church down the street.  We provide a bag of food for 25 students (and the other church also does 25).  I had no idea our church did this and it really was a blessing for my sons and I to get to participate.

We donned gloves and filled bags of cheerios into ziploc bags.  then we set out the 25 shopping bags and started filling them with various food items.  There was soup, vegetables, vienna sausage, pudding packs, oatmeal, cereal bars, macaroni and cheese, rice, cheerios, ritz crackers, apple sauce, orange, and banana. I couldn’t help but think that we never worry about food, and we even are picky about our food.  We are so blessed and I pray that we will be more grateful and generous in the future.

thanks for stopping by!

Hello Friends! :) Today’s prompt is breakfast. I have been wanting to implement a gluten free trial in our home for a few weeks. In preparation for this, I purchased several gluten free options, one being gluten free pancake mix. I mixed some of that up today and made waffles for breakfast. They were pretty good, not overwhelmingly great, but pretty good.

Church today, anthuriums on the altar:

my boys in the pew:

We had lunch at one of our favorites today, CPK.

Jalen is old enough to go to youth group which meets after church when we usually eat lunch. Last week and this week we went to lunch and brought him take out when we picked him up. It’s so strange saying party of 3.

21 of 366 Family Adventures

January 21st, 2012 · Family, Food, Hawaii, P366, Photography

Hello Friends! Welcome to the end of the third week of the year! Today we headed out for some family adventures.  We got dressed, tumbled into the van with my camera, a few books for the boys to read in the car, our cups of water and our spirit of adventure.  Our first stop of the day was at Deelite bakery.  We usually buy our birthday cakes here, guava chiffon, rainbow and chocolate dobash are some of our favorites.  We grabbed some sugary snacks and headed out towards waikiki.

I snapped this shot of my very favorite hotel in Waikiki, the Moana Surfrider. isn’t it gorgeous?!

We continued on through Kapi’olani Park and up to Diamond Head.

my picture of the day, snapped right next to the Diamond Head Lighthouse. It represents what I want more of in my life.  Family adventures and activities that are more than just movies, tv or video games.

we continued on down the coast. I was on a quest to see some whales today. this was the best shot I got:

sandy beach

we stopped to pick up some beach glass and check out interesting stuff

makapu’u light house

lunch at our favorite Kailua restaurant, cinnamon’s

one last stop before going home, sam’s club to buy a new set of cordless phones.

and that ended our day out adventuring.  It was a great day spending time together.
Thanks for stopping by!
