Beach Day

Hello Friends! My mom took some vacation days from work so she could hang out with us before we leave. Yesterday we drove around the windward side of the island and up to the North Shore. We hung out at the beach, enjoyed shave ice and snapped pictures. Our first stop was Laie Point.

We stopped off to say Hi to my classmate Yvette and her Mom :)

We picked up some sandwiches from the super market and had our lunch on some picnic tables next to the beach. There were chickens gathering around the table looking for morsels. We did not feed them. After lunch we carried our goods down to the water. It was a LONG hot walk down the sand. We plopped our booties in sand and picked up some shells.

My niece Belle was with us too :)

Jordan liked digging in the sand and being buried.

When we were done we hiked it back up the beach to the car. It really seemed like a long hot walk. hey, hot loose sand is a battle to walk through. note to self: get back into exercising more often. We drove further North to hit Aoki’s for shaved ice in Haleiwa and then headed back south. We stopped off at “Turtle Beach” to snap a few pictures. These turtles are so beautiful.

We stopped again at Crawford’s Convalescent home so I could snap a few pictures of this old building.

Stopped again to snap a few pictures of these windmills. They are SO much bigger than I thought they would be.

One more stop at Kualoa Ranch to snap pictures of this old rock building.

Hawaiian Sunsets

Hello Friends! If you know me at all you know I am obsessed with clouds and sky and colorful sky pictures. I am constantly amazed at the beautiful colors displayed in the sky. Last week I was uploading some pictures via lightroom and I was browsing my instagram feed while hoping my photos would upload. I saw the most beautiful red sky sunset in my feed and had to run outside with my cellphone to snap a few shots myself. The next day I thought I’d take a chance and head down to the beach and hope for some more awesome color. When we pulled up to the beach there was a family there, the littles were swimming while mom was blowing some amazing bubbles. I asked if I could join them in the area as it was the best spot to see the sun and they obliged. Here are some of my favorite shots.

Vacation Bible School

Hello Friends! Last week the boys and I spent the mornings at our church with Vacation Bible School. Jordan was a student, Jalen was an assistant and I lead the crafts on 3/5 of the days. My friends Jody and Karen did the decorations and I absolutely loved them all! The theme was every where fun fair.

The kids started every morning session with story and singing and dancing in the sanctuary with Pastor Jim. The kids would then break up into groups and rotate through crafts, outdoor games, music, science, and snack/missions.

These are the crafts I worked on with the kids:

Love your Neighbor sign. I cut the LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR on my silhouette machine the night before and then let the kids go to town with a few different embellishments. Just doing my part to introduce a new generation of washi tape lovers ;) Koala Bear Mask. Print, cut, color, glue on the stick. Picture frames. I took pictures of all the kids, printed them on my selphy and brought in coasters, pre cut map paper, die cut easel backs and labels. Memory Verse Books. We created paper bag notebooks for the kids to glue in the memory verses on the last day.

50th State Fair

Hello Friends! It has been a super busy beginning to the summer over the past few days. Last week the boys and I spent time at our church working on Vacation Bible School, I’ll be back with some pictures from that in a little bit. The other night Troy and I were watching TV and I saw a commercial for the 50th State Fair. We usually pass on the fair because we don’t love crowds or the heat at the Stadium Parking lot where the fair is held but at the end of the commercial, three words caught my attention. Hedrick’s racing pigs. That’s right, racing pigs. Ever since playing angry birds, Jordan has been fond of pigs and even more so recently. He abstains from bacon and pork products for the most part too. When I saw the racing pigs I just knew we would have to make our way over to the fair to see them. We went down to the stadium at 4pm yesterday, opening time for Saturday. It was $5 to park, $3 a person to get in. We walked around and weighed our eating options and Troy and Jalen had chicken and fries ($5 or 6 each) , Jordan had pizza ($3) and I opted for a Hawaiian Combo plate ($12) and corn on the cob ($5) 4 cans of juice ($1 each). There was a large tent with picnic tables where we ate, it was a comfortable area. Troy also took Jordan over to the “fishing” area ($5) where he scored a light up toy.

We visited the petting zoo ($4 a person) where Jordan got to pet his first pig. He was cautious and careful not to disturb the little piglet and scolded daddy for scratching the pig too vigorously. There was also a little bunny and some goats and baby goats. One of the little baby goats was trying to eat shoelaces, jackets and hair, it was quite funny watching it happen (to someone else)

After washing up at the restroom trailer, we grabbed front row seats at the pig racing area. The announcer was quite amusing and I appreciated her ability to work the crowd. It was very HOT out there. We sat under our umbrella until other people started to show up.

After the pig races we looked through the games and didn’t see any that we wanted to play.

We lined up for deep fried brownies, I didn’t love it.

We walked around and looked at the rides but no one wanted to ride.

It was a fun afternoon out at the 50th State Fair.

happy blues

Hello Friends! I think most people associate the words blues with sadness but since blue is my favorite color, these are happy blues for me.

I printed up a few happy pictures on my selphy and layered it over a few bitty bags and some Dear Lizzy striped vellum with stitched butterflies. I also added a few strips of washi tape, some wooden asterisks, and a few sequins. The last touch of color was some fun stitched stripes of solid yellow twine.
