Hello Friends! Today’s prompt was in a roll or rolled up and I seriously considered going to the bakery for some rolls but the weather was terrible so we stayed in most of the day. We did, however, venture out for dinner.

This is one of our favorite restaurants despite a few items that I don’t care for here. The food is excellent and the service is usually pretty good. Two things I don’t like? 1. when we walk up to the host/hostess they ALWAYS ask us, are you visiting? No. we live here. in fact we come here about once a month and have been coming here for years. Are you visiting is not a polite way to greet a guest. How are you, How is your day are more appropriate greetings. 2. When the host/hostess walks you to your table, the put the menus on the table and stack the napkins and silverware on the table. They do not set the table, they do not pass out the menus. that’s just rude, in my opinion. I have mentioned it to the manager and he said it’s a style of service. I say, you mean lack of service? so then I shouldn’t leave a tip then? but the friendliness of the servers (tonight we had anthony-excellent) and quality of the food are so good, we do overlook it.

Hello Friends! This morning we went out to the USS Missouri Memorial to attend the commissioning ceremony of a friend of our family. The prompt was the photograph someone wearing red. I have very few red items of clothing and most of the people I saw today had on white, khaki or blue uniforms. I opted for a shot of me with my red lipstick.

Happy February, Friends! :) it’s 2.1.12, a palindrome ;) ha ha, it’s the little things that make me happy. Today’s prompt was fast shutter speed. I did not get a chance to go outside to play with a fast shutter speed so when we came out from eating dinner and I saw the sun glowing all big, orange, and beatiful… I had to snap this shot. I like it even though there are power lines and cars.

I also wanted to share, I moved Jordan back to his shorter table and let Jalen stay with his tall table. Today was the second day of working on separate tables and there has been much less chatter, more focus and work getting done much more quickly. I also had more time to do some laundry, make up beds with fresh linen, vacuum, fold laundry… and boys to help me with these things. and for the most part they were cheerful helpers. It has been really happy in our home the past two days. same kids, same mom, same work. slightly modified work environment and the difference is wonderful. I just wanted to share.

Hello Friends! Today’s prompt was the written word. We spent our Saturday big fat day of fun at Bishop Museum. One of the displays was about Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. Here’s the my #p366 shot, the written word. A payroll book from 1909

we also saw a shave ice machine and tray, a miniature plantation store, type for a japanese newspaper, a mochi pounding bowl, a pocket watch, a notary seal and whip, and a kendo mask. Outside the Science Center where Jordan sat on a nene goose, inside with Jalen in front of the silver discs. the planetarium, oh yeah and the death star, hee hee. science on a sphere. click any of these photos for a larger view.

Hello Friends! Today’s prompt was duplicate, two, a copy, repeated. I was thinking about a shot with both of my boys, that’s an easy two. I got an email asking me if I was available to help with a little project at the church today so I said sure, we’d be down. When we turned onto the street, this is what we saw. The electric company people working hard doing something waaaay up there. two cranes/cherry pickers, voila. #p366 was born.

So, here is the project we helped with at our church. There is a public elementary school very close to our church and many of the students come from families in poverty. While they get free/subsidized breakfast and lunch at school, near the end of the month, their families may be running low on food so they might not get much more than that. Enter our church and a fellow church down the street. We provide a bag of food for 25 students (and the other church also does 25). I had no idea our church did this and it really was a blessing for my sons and I to get to participate.

We donned gloves and filled bags of cheerios into ziploc bags. then we set out the 25 shopping bags and started filling them with various food items. There was soup, vegetables, vienna sausage, pudding packs, oatmeal, cereal bars, macaroni and cheese, rice, cheerios, ritz crackers, apple sauce, orange, and banana. I couldn’t help but think that we never worry about food, and we even are picky about our food. We are so blessed and I pray that we will be more grateful and generous in the future.

Hello Friends! Welcome to the end of the third week of the year! Today we headed out for some family adventures. We got dressed, tumbled into the van with my camera, a few books for the boys to read in the car, our cups of water and our spirit of adventure. Our first stop of the day was at Deelite bakery. We usually buy our birthday cakes here, guava chiffon, rainbow and chocolate dobash are some of our favorites. We grabbed some sugary snacks and headed out towards waikiki.

I snapped this shot of my very favorite hotel in Waikiki, the Moana Surfrider. isn’t it gorgeous?!

We continued on through Kapi’olani Park and up to Diamond Head.

my picture of the day, snapped right next to the Diamond Head Lighthouse. It represents what I want more of in my life. Family adventures and activities that are more than just movies, tv or video games.

we continued on down the coast. I was on a quest to see some whales today. this was the best shot I got:

and that ended our day out adventuring. It was a great day spending time together.

I had a few questions to address:

Thankfully, we are done with the testing. I really feel it is an interruption to our regular schedule, and personally I don’t do well with that kind of thing. The test is also based on what the schools are teaching and not necessarily what we are teaching/learning at home so that can be stressful, especially for the student. The school in our neighborhood has been very nice to us and I do appreciate that. (and thanks, I really had fun making the new header)

I haven’t tried Photosheet to make the smaller photos, I usually use photoshop to create the collages and then print at home. I can’t wait to see your project as you have time to work on it!

thanks so much (happy-scrappy) Sam! :) I made my templates and printed at home. My template was 12×12 and I cropped it down to 6×12 to print each page. The paper is some photo paper that i purchased at the store when they stopped carrying the wide format printers. It was a 50 pack of 13x 19 photo matte paper. I simply trim it down to 8.5×13 and then run it through my HP printer. (still dreaming of a wide format printer some day)

Veronica, I got a Canon 5D mk ii just before Christmas! I’m so so happy with it, I’ve been dreaming for quite some time.

Today’s prompt is flakes. No snow here. My girlfriend Kimmy posted some really really cool pinterest inspired glittery flakes yesterday that I will have to try soon. but for today, I chose this shot of Troy and I, snapped by Jalen at California Pizza Kitchen. One of our favorite post church lunch places. I enjoyed a BLT pizza and Troy enjoyed his meat cravers while both boys had crispy chicken for lunch. Our server was cheery and friendly as usual.

Today’s prompt was to take a fresh perspective. I shot a few shots walking out to the mailbox over Jordan’s shoulder and a few shots at the dinner table but ultimately, I decided to go with this shot of these Macarons we picked up this afternoon at La Tour Cafe. easily our favorite sweet treet. These are chocolate and coconut flavor. We already ate up the vanilla, strawberry, guava and salt caramel ones… I was lucky to have these to snap a picture at all!

also a contender was this shot. While at dinner, Jordan unfolded his napkin on the dinner table and there were a few wet spots from our water cups that soaked into his napkin. He proceeded to rub holes in his napkin and then announced, look, it’s Hawaii!

I couldn’t be any prouder. :)
