So I finished it! It only took me two trips back to get more yarn… but I finally finished the scarf. I love it and think it’s so cute. don’t know when exactly I’ll get to wear it, but anyway. here it is!

I am so happy with it. My only problem was it took so much work to get it done, although I enjoyed the process, I kept thinking, I have projects to scrap!

And not only was I distracted with crochet, I also got some legos and jewelry findings and put together some lego jewelry. I’ll tell you, I saw this idea for the lego earrings on etsy and was instantly smitten. after all, lego has consumed our household. but I wanted something more than just a pair of earrings. I tend to go a little overboard on somethings, you may have noticed. I think it’s a touch of OCD, but again, I digress. I ordered the goodies and put them together… and I present Lego earrings:

I have lots of colors of those round legos to swap out… and while I was at it, I made two more pair of lego earrings (if they strike your fancy… let me know, we can negotiate an arrangement)

i like these, the clear ones remind me of toy lover’s diamonds…

and of course, I had to make a bracelet to go with my earrings…(you can see it in the scarf picture up there too)

and as if that were not enough distraction… I have been fascinated with TTV (through the viewfinder) pictures since I first saw them on Tara Whitney’s blog last year. It’s when you take a picture through the viewfinder of another camera. it adds a cool black frame, dust, texture etc. Troy asked me, “…and why do you want to do this?” I say, because it’s cool, that’s why. and that’s good enough reason for me. well, I hadn’t actually tried it, just played a little with fake ttv using frames online and photoshop. but a few weeks ago, I saw a tutorial online about creating a ttv device and it said the viewfinder cameras were readily available online via ebay for about $20. I had assumed it would be an expensive endeavor, but as it turns out, I got a new/old kodak duaflex IV (and flash) on ebay for only $10! here she is, isn’t she purty?! ( I am thoroughly enjoying this and it was well worth the $10 plus shipping)

so here are my first ttv attempts.

then yesterday I took the set up with us to get some shave ice at Shimazu’s on School street. YUUM!

and lastly, my new new toy. I was interested in the Polaroid POGO printer. It prints on special paper with no ink. one 2×3 self adhesive photo from your cell phone (through bluetooth) or from your digital camera with firewire cable and one minute later… a mediocre print. I’ll have to say it was probably a waste of money. I am working on it though.

so that’s it for now. next time I’ll share my scrapbook dimensions projects. and hopefully I’ll have some other goodies to share soon too.

Love Love and Blog you later!

and hello constant activity! The boys got out of school on Friday. It was a teary day as they left Navy Hale Keiki for the last time. Jalen was graduated from the third grade, the seniors of the school, so to speak. all three of them. Here are pictures of Jalen with his two teachers. I love them and the way they nurtured and lead my son. sigh*

I made the teachers thank you cards, brought them lei and gifties for the last day. My card was inspired by a card I saw on the blog hop.

the clouds and woodgrain are hero arts background stamps, the patterned paper on the banner are from the Oct Afternoon Cherry Hill pad. I love how it came out, although the word was a little longer than I anticipated, it’s okay with me. ;)

also I have been continuing on with my crocheting… i’m hooked, hee hee, and on Row 14 of my scarf. here’s what it looks like right now:

5 more rows to go, then fringe! wheeee!

I also tried out the embroidery floss to make those cute little flowers, ahhh I love it!

Today was a busy first day of Summer. We ran to the post office, picked up an ebay purchase from israel.check. drove out to Kahala to pick up a dental health certificate for Jordan’s new preschool.check. went to the new preschool to pay deposit, buy a shirt and turn in paper work.check. home to pick up checks in the mail (yay!).check. off to the bank for deposits. check, check, check, check! home for lunch, legos and nap. I tortured Jalen with a writing assignment, and I crocheted nap time away. Still need to make a run to the commisary, but over all today was a day with things checked off the list, and that’s always a good thing.

Flat Joscie’s trip to Toronto was documented on Miss Mint’s blog. so.cute. Did I tell you I did a silhouette card tutorial over there?

Tomorrow (or the next day) I’ll be back with news about my lego project, my new printing toy, memory makers, and scrapbook dimensions projects. Til then, thanks for stopping by my piece of paradise!

and I’m completely thrilled about it! I have wanted to learn how to crochet for a long time. When I was younger I learned how to knit from my Grandma Galli, my adopted Italian Grandma. Nothing fancy, but I learned how to knit and purl. I’ve always thought that was fun, but hadn’t really pursued it. about a year or so ago I fell completely in love with those crocheted little flowers. You see them everywhere, but I wanted to learn how to make them. I tried asking 3 different people who knew how to crochet, but their skilled fingers were just too fast for my untrained eyes. I tried buying a few teach yourself to crochet books, but those were difficult for me to follow, so I gave up. until last week. My girlfriend KJ posted a link to some crocheted flower patterns and I thought, those would be cool to make, too bad I don’t know how to crochet. (bang head again) then I also started reading this incredible blog the purl bee and I came across this beauty. I fell in love with that scarf. in all it’s golden yellow happiness. sigh. if only I knew how to crochet. I looked at youtube and lo and behold. the perfect crochet teacher for me. a video tutorial for each and every crochet stitch I’ll ever need to know. If you want to learn how to crochet, give this lady a chance. You can watch it as many times as you need and she does regular speed and slow mo. I love it. so I have learned a few stitches and I gave it a try. and guess what? I made my first crochet-flower, ever. She’s not perfect, but I love her anyway! I’m working on counting my stitches more accurately.

and of course I had to try my hand at the scarf right? since I live in Hawaii and it was 93 degrees the other day, right? I know, my head doesn’t always work logically. I really wanted to order the yarn in the demo project, but OUCH! it’s silk. and $29 a bunch or roll or ball or whatever you call a bunch of yarn. and it takes 3 colors. I thought it best not to spend $90 for my first project. instead I’m working a cheaper practice one. I’m in the third row so far.

and lastly, i ordered some goodies last week or so and they came in. I’ve been coveting it for a while… baker’s twine. I tried to buy it locally, but no luck finding it here, so I ordered. look at the pretty colors. it makes me happy. I just want to tie lengths on my wrist. is it silly? probably. but I don’t care! blame it on maria. i too love brown paper packages tied up in string. hee hee!

I bundled these up to send to my mother in law and I also packaged some up for my RAK winners. I also got some fancy crochet pins. ahhh, the pretties make me smile.

I hope you’re doing well. We’re ending up our school year tomorrow. I have to make some cards to thank our teachers (again) this time personally from our family..> We really lucked out with teachers that nurture and lead our boys, and for that we are thankful.

Love Love and Blog you later,
