the big 5

March 25th, 2010 · 8 Comments · Family, Silhouette, cardmaking, scrapbook

Jordan turned the big 5 on Saturday!  In preparation for the day, I cut out cardstock 5s on my silhouette in blue and green.  I pierced them with a push pin and mat, and then sewed them on to long strands of bakers twine in blue, his favorite color.  On some strands I added pom poms, and some only the numbers, there was not really a clear plan. I just knew I wanted to hang up some strands to celebrate his actual birthday (as opposed to his almost birthday that we celebrated in January with Dad.)

I wrapped his presents in kraft paper and used one of the cardstock pieces that i cut as a mask to spray blue glimmer mist 5s on the top of one of the boxes. I used blue graph patterned Japanese masking tape to seal them shut.  :)

I created a hybrid card with some minty goodies…

and when he came downstairs, we sang over what else? a breakfast croissant! it was perfect actually, we got the large croissants from Sam’s Club and these had a teeny tiny little hole, just the right size for a candle.

Here’s our big 5 year old:

When Jalen and I were discussing where to hang up the 5s, I asked him, do you think we should hang it over his seat at the table? and Jalen decided, yes, it will look like he’s kind of a King.  so that’s what we went for :) The funny thing is that Jordan thought at first that it looked like a web and he was afraid to sit under it. Once Jalen told him it meant he was the Birthday King, Jordan seemed okay with it.  I took them down from the dining room the next day and they are now hanging in his room. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Come back again later where you might see some 2peas projects, some glimmery goodies and some pictures from the big island and flat jackson’s visit.

Love Love and Blog you later!
