In my constant effort to win the mother of the year award… I forgot Jordan’s preschool homework at home this morning. It struck me this morning as we were getting out of the car after our 45minute commute…
wow we had to bring everything back this morning:
bag a book (check)
water bottle (check)
sleeping bag, pillow, jacket (check, check, check)
AW MAN! I forgot your homework!
This weekend’s assignment included a full sized body tracing, a head shot and an assignment to cut out pictures of healthy/unhealthy foods and paste one type on one side of the body, and the other type on the other side. Easy enough assignment, right? OF course I had to take a new headshot because Jordan tried to tell his teachers he wanted to use his mad face when she was taking pictures. crazy boy. we started sifting through old copies of Better Homes and Gardens magazines (which have been sitting over a year still in the plastic wrap, unread- I swear I didn’t subscribe to that) we gathered our pictures, trimmed them and broke out the glue sticks. I must admit that sometimes I can be an over analyzer. I looked at these pictures and some were clearly healthy. tomatoes, asparagus, lettuce. yes, all healthy. but really, is cheese healthy? It has dairy and protein, but still the fat calories? hmm, in moderation, it’s okay right? I ask Jordan how do you know what is healthy and what is not healthy? He says,”You tell me”. I say, “What did your teacher tell you?” He says, “If it has sugar it’s unhealthy” okay. He’s four so I didn’t go into the whole, well, you have to consider fat, cholesterol, whole grains and fiber etc etc…We also had a discussion that tomatoes are healthy and healthy doesn’t mean “items you like to eat” vs. unhealthy “items you don’t like to eat”.
We continued on to paste the items down and I just kept thinking, maybe this should have been a number line type project? -negative numbers could have been the “bad side” and +positive numbers could have been the “healthy side” and right around zero those items that are okay in moderation? like I said, I tend to over analyze things sometimes. Here is that project that I’ll be carrying into his class this afternoon at pickup time… PS, did you notice the shorts? Gotta love living in paradise. my kids wear shorts all year round!
Thanks for stopping by! Love Love and Blog you Later! :)
