I was so thrilled when my friend Noel asked me if I would be willing to host her daughter Emma’s Flat Stanley. Why, of course! I would love to, please send him on his way! When he arrived in our mailbox, I immediately laminated him and gave him a lei to welcome him in the traditional Hawaiian way. I took pictures along the way of his visit. We did normal things like grocery shopping at the commissary, and fun things like going to the North Shore, enjoying shave ice and going to the beach. I collected my favorite pictures and added the journaling and a little aloha flat stanley logo to each. I saved to my usb drive and headed down to Wal Mart to print. Unfortunately their one hour printer that I usually use was broken so I took the files across the street to Sam’s Club. The prints did not turn out exactly how I wanted (it cropped the very edges of some prints) but I though that Emma would forgive me and I took 2 sets of prints home(I had to get a set for me!) I put the photos in order and used my atg gun to adhere them back to back. I cut a plastic “hawaiian” placemat for the covers and punched it all in the bind it all. I used a 1″ ring and bound it all together.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your island tour along with flat stanley :)

There were more more more pictures, but I wasn’t sure how many you wanted to see of stanley next to the pineapple field, next to the macadamia nut orchard, next to the next beach etc etc etc. ha!  We certainly enjoyed his visit and were so happy to send a little aloha spirit to Washington!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love-Love and Blog you later! Joscie, rhymes with bossy :)

ADORABLE! One of Shane’s uncle’s who teaches at a school in Nebraska sent us 3 Stanley’s, and Shane took them on a tour around the island too. I just learned of this and just love it.

That’s so funny about the hawaiian place mat! I bought the white hisbiscus one for this reason (or as a transparent page!) when I was in Kauai :) ( i miss hawaii! i so wish i had a better time the last time i was there…not so fun after a heartbreak & memories) I think we are going to go somewhere different the next time ( i am hoping sooner than 2 yrs from now!) ANyways, what a cute project for emma :)

Gosh, looks like Flat Stanley had more fun than we did when we went there 1-1/2 years ago – on a cruise.

You are one crafty lady!!! I love the idea of cutting the placemats as a cover! I’m definitely stealing this idea from you (^o>)v

BTW, I found out the lens at the exchange is about $769…I’m gonna look at B&H in a bit to see if they’re a bit cheaper…however if it is, I’m wondering if it’s worth it because of shipping, might end up being the same price! Darn, our cousins coming from NYC and I could have asked her to grab it for me. OH well!!!

    TFS!
    Aloha!
