I love reusable grocery bags.  Plastic grocery bags have always left me with a bad feeling. Maybe it’s that I worked at a Grocery store when I was in college and I know that paper bags pack items so much neater and are more likely to be reused than plastic (in my household)…Maybe it’s because we had a great dane a long time ago and can I just say we used a lot of those plastic bags…Maybe it’s because I hear all the stories of marine life (turtles, birds, fish etc) suffering after eating the discarded bags…Maybe it’s because i am a “bag lady” and I just love bags? I don’t know that there is one conclusive reason, but I do love reusable grocery bags.  I bought a bunch of green reusable grocery bags at the commissary last year and have been using them for a while now.  When I saw on twitter that Croqzine was hosting a reusable grocery bag swap, I signed up right away!  (I had been thinking about a hosting a grocery bag swap myself- now all the fun without any work!)  I started making my grocery bag by thinking about carrying a bunch of groceries in one bag…. think baby sling meets grocery bag.

I used blue chambray material that was originally purchased to make slipcovers and pillow cases for our now passed on couches.  some of you will not be surprised to hear, I never finished that project- ha, ha.  It’s also lined and has a long strap, I hope my partner is tall or the strap may be too long. I hope she likes it!

I recieved my swap in the mail last week, it’s so cute! :) She made a tropical inspired bag for me… and a pack of glass marble thumbtacks :)
